About the Project
I bought a box of British Infantry for Bolt Action awhile ago and I wanted to paint them up as a Durham Light Infantry unit because this was my late Grandad’s regiment. I don’t know much about my Grandad’s experiences during the war apart from a few little bits he told me (he never really talked in great detail about his exploits during the war). I know he served over in Burma and was also part of the Normandy Landings on Gold beach (because of bits he told me and the medals he left me when he passed) With a bit of sleuthing I was a little confused about what battalion he was in, as the 6th, 8th and 9th Battalions were all involved in Normandy but the 2nd Battalion was the only Battalion stationed in Burma and never fought in the Normandy landings. My guess is that he was transferred over to the 2nd after the Normandy Landings. He did say after Normandy there weren’t many of them left, so being transferred makes the most sense to me. He was bumped up to corporal and sent off to Burma. The idea is to make a homage to my Grandad and start with the regular British Infantry for the Normandy campaign and then maybe make a separate unit that would be used as the 2nd for a unit that fought in Burma. Anyway I am going to see how these turn out first and hopefully they will do the job.

Progress.
The painting is going surprisingly well as a first go at painting these (I will re-evaluate this after I have put the other eye in haha). A good start I think so hopefully this is a good omen for the project.
PIAT Team.
I was looking at the firing positions of PIAT teams. Unfortunately I don’t have any prone poses as most of the images I seen the teams were lay down, but in spirit of rationing you make do with what you have. I did however ( with some chopping up bits and green stuff) manage to get his left hand to come over the PIAT as this seemed to be the way they were fired. Over all I am happy with the positioning of these two even though I would prefer the loader to look a bit more involved but anyway.
