I love desert stuff. Desert Basing, dusty models, the colours, love it all.  Started my DAK with the idea of them being a small quick project. They weren’t. I’ve also written a book to be published by Pen and Sword at the end of 2018 covering painting WW2 in the desert….

These models are a mix of PSC, Kellys Heroes, and some Britannia. They now had lots of games. And haven’t won many.

A small, 350 point game at Medway Wargames society between my Heer and my mate Chris’ Russians. It didn’t go well…

Adding on to my Normandy theme, I’ve added the 2nd SS Panzer Divison, Das Reich, and though themed for 44 could with a few changes be used for 43-45.

Figures are mostly SHQ, with vehicles from PSC. Zimmerit on the Panzer IV is from Miliput.

To oppose the Americans, I put together a Heer force too, these are also all from PSC, with the PAK40 from Zvezda. Like the Americans, I’m planning on replacing these with AB figures, probably by the end of the year 2018.

This was my first 20mm WW2 project, and is based on the 9th Infantry division in the Normandy campaign. Models here are pretty much all PSC, though there might be a few SHQ figures knocking around too. I’m planning on adding another platoon one day, using AB figures, as well as doing an armoured recce platoon, which I’m slowly gathering stuff for…

Beachhead 2018 Display game, Battle of Sidi Nsir

In February 1943 Axis forces in Tunisia sought to expand  their shrinking beachhead by launching Operation Ocshenkopf with the objective of taking and holding Beja from the defending British and Commonwealth forces.

Elements from 501st Heavy Panzer battalion and 10th Panzer attacked the Railway stop of Sidi Nsir. The defence by 155 Battery Royal Artillery delayed the attack for long enough for defenders at Beja to dig in, and eventually repulse the German offensive.

Our game went much the same way, with German forces taking heavy losses, though ultimately breaking the British defenders.

This was a display game hosted at the Royal Engineers museum in September 2017, between my Germans and a mates Russians, themed to operation Bagration in late summer 1944.

Models are from pretty much every manufacturer of 1/72 models, and terrain is a mix of Pegasus buildings, Gamemat EU at, and lots of scatter scenery.
