About the Project
This is my 6 point Saga army for the Age of Invasions universe! I've been working on them for awhile, I just started back to college a year or so ago and it's eating all my damn painting time! I have 2 more points to go!

Point of Hearthguard complete!
I started back to college about 2 years ago which has been murder on my painting time. But I have managed to complete another point of Romans. These are again, Footsore Late Romans. Wonderful models and I am super pleased at my results.
How I do my Bases
I themed these bases around a late fall forest. I thought I’d share how I do them.
The first thing I do is use the Vallejo Dark Earth mix. I use this for almost every base and I find I can change it up to fit nearly any basing requirement. Once it dries and hardens, I drybrush a little Vallejo Red Leather to give a bit of contrast. I suspect any lighter brown would be fine.
The next thing is to get a little white glue down. I purposefully leave some spots without glue, just to add more “texture” to the bases.
I am using Army Painter Wasteland tufts, Natural Leaf Litter from Green Stuff World and the Steppe Grass mix from Army Painter. I find that the steppe grass mix works on a variety of seasons/genres. You just plop them down into the glue. On the parts of the horses where some earth or mud is sculpted in, I glue leaves along those vertical surfaces to simulate the horses kicking up piles of leaves.
I also edge paint all my bases in black. I don’t even bother diluting it for this step.
There you have it, some fall forest bases for you.
Time for the Warlord!
I moved on to my Warlord next and I gotta say I had a blast doing it. I spent a lot of time getting the white horse the way I wanted it. I had to strip it twice before I was happy with the results. I had some similar trouble with the black horse, but I really think it worked out. The base was something I spent a fair amount of time on.
Here’s a bit of a look at the white horse as I was finally getting it right.
Like I said, I had a lot of fun with the basing. Here’s a closer look.
One point of Warriors
This was the third point I completed and it won me a golden button!
2nd Point Completed Levy!
This was my second point for my Saga Romans, a point of spear levy. With the boost levy for in 2nd edition, I am doubly glad I got these guys painted up!
First Point of Hearthguard
This was the first point I completed, 4 mounted guys for my romans, they were some of the first horses I ever painted! I had a wonderful time getting the bases done.
First point Completed Hearthguard 1 point
This was my first point of Romans completed, as you can see I was still figuring out proper photos, but I am still pleased with how these guys turned out. I had a wonderful time working on the bases.
