About the Project

I have horrible hobby ADHD and jump from project to project frequently. I have a fair deal of terrain projects in limbo, in progress, and in mind that I think having this space as some motivation would be beneficial. I enjoy crafting pieces from scratch but also don't turn my nose up as a fun Stl file that I can print. The majority of this space will likely be for Mythic Earth, Dungeons & Dragons, and Trench Crusade.

My friend elected to use the Taino force in our games of Mythic Earth so I’ve started slowly working on a “home” board for her. The more I research the Taino people the more I am amazed. Tried to keep the canoes darker to emulate the Guayacan wood they utilized and have been creating some cultural appropriate oars.

So as I stated in the project info I have a great deal of Mesoamerican terrain and scatter I’ve being working on to use in the fantastic Mythic Earth game and setting. Which reminds me why hasn’t Mythicos Studios got some more attention here? 😛

I enjoy crafting but have no issue using stls when applicable. I had the Jungle Ruins set from Dark Realms on Myminifactory and threw them on the printer. While I have more ruined looking architecture on the bases of my Maya forces I wanted to incorporate the red that I had read was used a lot and also the gold and turquoise I’ve been using on my miniatures to tie them all together.

Lovely print and I have a second one printed but also a larger one being worked on slowly but steadily. The blood splatter on the altar was real fun as I cut some newspaper to prevent wildly errant sprays and using my airbrush I did short bursts of Blood for the Blood God off of a stiff brush. For older sacrifices I’ll do the same technique but with Tamiya red mixed with a dark brown/black to get a more coagulated look.

This absolutely made my day!

Take 3, an overdue update

So I’ve typed an update for this project three times now and each time it has failed to update or save my text or uploads. Pretty frustrated so not going into great detail this time haha.

The second building saw me building decking and expanding on the building with foam for some variety. I wanted to expand the playable surface and was inspired by some open aired seating I enjoyed while in Bavaria this summer. I love building with crafting sticks as apply similiar techniques I’ve used in real life while building decking with my dad. Obviously I cheat it a bit on the 28/32mm scale haha.

The stucco was done using dollar store foam texture with a aluminum foil ball. I like to use dry components when possible as they keep my work cleaner, don’t need additional dry time, and are cleaner. 🙂

I had originally considered a roof but threw the idea out when I couldn’t get the look down I was happy with.

So a friend shared with me that this little Halloween villages were on sale at Michaels for $5 it got the wheels churning. I had been contemplating more Mesoamerican themed pieces (More on that later) but felt they would complement our current 5E campaign and get a lot of use. I picked up 6 and snagged a ton of my favorite crafting supply, coffee stirrers. I stockpiled a large supply of foam my employer was going to throw out and got out my hot wire cutter. The first building was a simple and i wanted to have a playable interior so magnetized the corners. I used left over granny grating from another project and order some green gel filters that were on sale to do the windows. All in all a very rewarding first build that got me confident and looking to be more adventurous on the next build.
