The Gorechosen
So following on from last warband I finished up the Gorechosen of Dromm. I love the colour scheme here as it has almost an ‘Aztec’ vibe to it.
More Chaos
So I haven’t played AoS for 3 editions and I doubt I will for 3 more yet, so these Chaos maurarders have been square based for Old World (or KoW, Saga Age of Magic, Mordheiem, etc).
And up next are the Gorechosen of Dromm! (which will also be Squarebased).
Building the Brand
Why does it take the same amount of time to paint 26 ASOIAF minis as it does to paint 5 GW minis?
Anyway, I like the look of these ‘Conan-esk’ ‘Brands Oathbound’ so I painted them up.
Square based ASOIAF Gold Cloaks
So I continued down my heretical path of ASOIAF on square bases so that I can use them in Old World. Unfortunately the round bases they come on are bigger than standard GW rounds so rebasing was the simplist option to be able to use them in multiple hames. In fact in a fortnight’s time they will be part of as SAGA Age of Magic game themed around ASOIAF. Wish me luck
Disgusting!
In October we return to Space Hulk. We are digging out old White Dwarf rules for Marine vs Marine combat. The rules have options for Terminators and standard marines so I’ve decided to go with Heresy era Death Guard. On the down side, these miniatues are VERY detailed. On the up side, the filth of the Death Guard means I don’t need to be as tidy as usual with the paint job. In total there will be 20 Death Guard to back up the 13 Terminators I painted a couple of years back.
Warmaster
So one of the guys at the club wanted to give Warmaster Revolutions a go. I’ve always loved the game and so joined my neighbour Jim as we commanded our Dawi Throng against the degenerates of Chaos. Our Dwarfs struggled to withstand the Chaos knights but by systematically destroying his weaker units, managed to break the Chaos hordes. Dawi for the win!
Cut and run.
Besides Mordheim and shoot-outs in Mos Eisley, there were also fighting in 17th century Japan. We are enjoying Test of Honour more every game and eagerly await Saga, Age of Samurai.
It’s been a while between drinks
So there have been games, lots of games. This gem was a Stargrave introduction game set in the ‘Scum and villainy’ creature canteens.
More games, more Mordheim
Our Mordheim campaign is as fun as it is brutal! Undead, Sisters, Witch hunters, skaven, Reiklanders and Middenheimers all duking it out in the ruins of the city of the damned. Here’s tonight’s game where my Middenheimers hammered out a victory against Reiklanders.
A little more sunshine
So I decided to add another regiment to my Averlanders amd Nordlanders. This time Spearmen (Averlanders) and Nordland swordsmen, both on the new and improved 25mm squares.
Don't dig to deep
So I went looking for spare parts for some repairs I was doing to a goblin WHFB/OW army. Then I found this….
To late to plunder
So I was part of a Blood and Plunder campaign last year where I thought my French could benefit from some European regulars in the roster. I had planned to add some Wild Geese/Irish Foriegn legion to the mix but never got around to painting them. Here they are in Lally Infanterie regimental colours, red coats, green undercoats and green cuffs.
In the background you may also see a cheeky old 1990’s slanneshi Minotaur complete with whip marks and g-string.
Mordheim Buildings refurbished
As my group goes deeper into Mordheim we realised the new building look so much better than the old card stock that I had no option but to ‘renovate’ the old buildings. For 25 year old cardvord buildings, I think they look great!
Does this count for the Spring Clean Challenge?
Death on the streets of Mordheim
So I played a game of Mordheim at the club monthly get together. This game still has it! Mercenaries Vs Possessed. Glory to the Shadow Lord!
Test of honour, patience, my memory, etc
So I played Test of Honour. I won the game and like all gamers suddenly wanted everything for the game. My club will do 3 months of ToH from June, so I have time to paint a force.
I was sure I already owned some samurai so went looking. I found a box labelled ‘Samurai’. A very promising start!
Inside I found a fully painted 28mm fantasy samurai army I remember painting but not buying. I also found a Warmaster samurai army I remember buying but not painting. I also found a box labelled ‘GW Nippon’.
Inside were 100 samurai, 25 ninjas, 2 Nippon rocket crews, the citadel ‘oriental dragon’, foo-dogs, 20 undead samurai, some Japanese looking wizards, etc. All GW/Citadel, some pre slotta, and all either bare metal or primed and ready to go.
It’s Autumn in Oz but it may be time for a Spring Clean Challenge!
This city's turned to shi1!
So between January and March we got ready for our Mordheim campaign. 5 players, 8 trial games later and we are good to go for an April 1st kick-off (no foolin’!).
Anyway, we 3D printed 8 buildings in January and I painted them in February. They don’t blend badly with some of the Warcry terrain from the first box release or the 6-8th ed Warhammer ruined tower. Already started using them in the trial games and it all looks good!
Siege you soon
So as per-normal I was too busy playing games and getting hobby done to post about it. I’ll try and remember it all but let’s start with the siege stuff. It’s all for a future campaign starting in June of Warhammer Old World although I’m hoping it’ll also get used in A Song of Ice and Fire too.
The trebuchet is from Wizkids and cost not even a quarter of the GW one.
I particularly like the old GW siege towers with articulated ramps. They still work!
