About the Project
Cleaning my work and prep spaces as well as clearing some of the long waiting minis. This could mean painting them, putting them away, or even getting rid of some. I really want to get my horizontal spaces back.

Forever Love
These two fit together so perfectly they may have been designed to hold “hands”. Seriously, they really fit snuggly and almost didn’t need gluing… almost. Decided to only pin one of their feet so the other looks even more like they are floating. Still contemplating the paint scheme for the little spacemen and the base though I know it will be classic Lego Space colors.
In Space No One Can Hear You Prime.
I got the dead space Legomen and their base primed yesterday. I used an all over black base followed by a grey zenith and finished off with a white. I chose a harsh contrast as I want it to look like it is in space. I really like the look of them with just the primer coats.
Tiny, Lego Minifig Sized Steps
Haven’t had much time at the table the last couple of days. I did get the Legomen attached to a stand for painting and started the blue guy. I have been wavering on which color to paint the second. The original Space line had four colors of spacemen; red, blue, white, and yellow and I want to stay within those. White is classic but I feel he bone of the skulls would be drowned out. I am leaning toward yellow as I like the blue/yellow contrast. Of course both colors will be faded out when finished.
Classic Lego Space Colors Applied
I went with yellow and blue to reference the classic Lego Space colors. I want to paint the logo on their chests before I add any more highlights or weathering. I like how the base is looking as well but it really needs more work to age it as well as some highlights and shadows. Still struggling with what colors to paint the hook, wrench, and tubing but I have decided on a subtle wood grain for the button at least. Got a lot of work to do and not a lot of time as I wanton show it at KublaCon next weekend.
My Space Legomen Are Almost Awesome
After finishing the basic colors on both spacemen I got down to the details. Before weathering and aging the surfaces further, I needed to paint the Lego Space logo of a tiny ship breaking orbit. I pulled out one of my first generation Lego Minifigs and despite wearing a later helmet, his logo was clear and easy enough to start copying. After those were painted to my best ability I began weathering and aging everything. Bonus that this stage covers some of my onerous paint errors.
Everything Was Awesome and Still Is
So the undead Lego spacemen are painted, sealed, and assembled. Now they can drift through Lego Space, holding hands, well appendages, for all eternity. I’ve got them bubble wrapped, packed with my MCP minis, and already in the car waiting to go to KublaCon. I do hope folks like them. I find them charming and a little romantic but then I am a bit odd.
Probably my favorite part of cleaning my work area for the Spring Clean Challenge was finding these two guys.
