About the Project

Look, sometimes, you just need an absurd amount of models on the table to die in droves. Hopefully, they'll be painted by then. 18 gretchin and an Ork nob keeping the group together. I'm thinking Blood Axes, and go for a workwear look. Give the nob a tie, that sort of thing. Do 'tings propah 'n' all dat.

Little eyes, bits of wood, touch of clean up. Getting close. Also through some paint on a D&Do miniature, but that's neither here nor there.Little eyes, bits of wood, touch of clean up. Getting close. Also through some paint on a D&Do miniature, but that's neither here nor there.

A little more metal on guns and weapons, and some work on skulls and squig hair. Finally figured out what I wanted to do, because I wasn’t happy with the purple and green as is; the answer was to put a wash on it. I used Army Painter Green and Purple tone to adjust the colors, and liked it.

After that, it was just details, Monster and Fur Brown and some Copper on the buckles. Good enough. I gave them a base of Army Painter Battlefield Brown basing and their Wasteland Tufts, then blackened the bases.

I painted names on the back, and added shirt collars of paper, which is pleasantly absurd. As Da Boss says:

“Dey’re white-colla’ werkerz. (Wat? No wun sed nuttin’ ’bout shirtz…) Dey iz ‘interns’. Dunno wut dat iz, but instead of givven ‘um teef, you just havta promiss to givvem teef one day.”

The newest Interns.The newest Interns.
And from the back. I noticed that Dolt's collar is a bit messed up. Have to fix it before I varnish. And from the back. I noticed that Dolt's collar is a bit messed up. Have to fix it before I varnish.

Got some more paint on the test Gretchin. They're coming together; just some more details and a wash, and probably that shirt collar too yet.Got some more paint on the test Gretchin. They're coming together; just some more details and a wash, and probably that shirt collar too yet.

Went for a walk to get lunch at a place a mile and a half (two and a half kilometers) away, and fell asleep when I returned. (I may be getting old.) Decided to at least put some Orc.Skin speedpaint on the Gretchin before bed. We'll see how it dried in the morning.Went for a walk to get lunch at a place a mile and a half (two and a half kilometers) away, and fell asleep when I returned. (I may be getting old.) Simpleton and Dolt getting a first lick of paint.Simpleton and Dolt getting a first lick of paint.

Although I left it on active, really, starting on the grots was to wait until after I finished the Necrons and Lunar figs…well, they’re done. No excuse any more, so let’s get stuck in.

Going with a nice purple, and taking a close look, I realize they’re bare chested on the whole. Hmm. If I want to make them business-like…maybe some shirt collars. Probably without shirts, as that’s funnier.

Anyway, a start!

So, here's the starting point. Primed, mostly assembled (the nob might need some pinning to hold together) and ready to go. Going to clean up some other stuff closer to finished first, though. So, here's the starting point. Primed, mostly assembled (the nob might need some pinning to hold together) and ready to go.
