About the Project

About 16 years ago I had a fairly extensive collection of the Copplestone Back of Beyond miniatures, unfortunately they got lost in a move. Since then I have dabbled and had many false starts. However the period and potential pulpiness has always appealed. I have read on many occasions the excellent "Setting the East Ablaze" by Peter Hopkirk, reads just like the old Boy's Own stories. I have now started to rebuild the collection and I wanted to record my progress here.

I originally got into this period as at the time they were released I was a huge fanboy of Mark Copplestones sculpting, and when he stopped his freelance work for the likes of Grenadier, Wargames Foundry amongst many others and started his own company Copplestone Castings, the first releases was for a period that I knew nothing about. The website did however recommend reading “Setting the East Ablaze”, which I duly read  and was immediately transported to a fantastic pulpy world of spies, bandits, warlords and madmen.

I have had a few miniatures for several years and with a small purchase I now have a small Bolshevik force and a few adventurers to paint.

This will be followed up by a Small Chinese Warlord/Bandit force.

I took the roof/cab off of the model car to paint the interior and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the interior was just a drop in tub which when lifted out gave me the opportunity of adding a full interior from the Bitz box.I took the roof/cab off of the model car to paint the interior and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the interior was just a drop in tub which when lifted out gave me the opportunity of adding a full interior from the Bitz box.
This is the rules system I am building my forces for, but does require a lot of figures. This is the rules system I am building my forces for, but does require a lot of figures.
But I also have this so I can start playing games with my models sooner. But I also have this so I can start playing games with my models sooner.
Being impatient to get something on the table, I am looking to adapt these so I can have two adventuring groups searching for clues and encountering either bandits, Commisars and Warlords for historical pulpy games or Cthulhu's minions for a game more closely designed to mimic the original rules concept.Being impatient to get something on the table, I am looking to adapt these so I can have two adventuring groups searching for clues and encountering either bandits, Commisars and Warlords for historical pulpy games or Cthulhu's minions for a game more closely designed to mimic the original rules concept.

I have finished the FT17 and am about to finish the Siberian Rifle squad, I will post an update later today or tomorrow when these are done.
