About the Project
Hello from California! Relative newcomer to OTT. My good friend @144artist shared the spring cleaning challenge and I needed a good kick in the pants to get painting again and clear off a stalled project. Time to finish off my 15mm Andalusian These will be first used for To The Strongest, my preferred large battle rules for the past 3 years. The miniatures are Museum Miniatures. Neither of these these were included in the “related game” or “related company”. I’ll see if I can’t make an edit to add those.
Related Game: To The Strongest
Related Company: Museum Miniatures
Related Genre: Historical

First order of business - Clear off that table!
There that’s better…
Estimated effort 3h
My painting table is a very nice craft table with built in storage and swing out work surfaces on either side. A gift from my lovely wife.
Next up - Assess the effort
The Andalusian army is nearly complete, only the following remain to be painted:
- 48 bow
- 16 spear
- 4 cavalry
- 1 general
- 2 random figures to be painted as heroes
Painting - Batch1
When painting armies I tack figures onto strips of heavy cardboard, readily available around my house. Strips are a common length (~20cm) for easy handling and carry the same number of figures for assembly line painting. I usually stick to 2-4 strips to keep the painting progressing at a steady pace.
First up 16… err 14 bow. Simple base coats that will receive a wood stain wash when the other figures in this project are ready.
Project Fin!
Didn’t quiets finish in spring, but did finish painting & basing my Andalusian forces on June 27. Here are a few snaps of that progress
Final photos in the above gallery show the finished army along with the Spanish I completed last year.
I did get a bit distracted with a Ral Partha restoration. All and all a win for the spring of ‘22
Last week was my first game with the finished armies – a learner for my friend Dave on an open table to keep things simple.
