About the Project
Hi, I backed the Maiden Pledge of the Joan of Arc Kickstarter. Playing and painting this set has been on hold since arrival. JoA still hasn’t finalized its rules. I have been wanting to introduce RanknFlank to my son who is my number one opponent in just about ever game I play. He is on the autism spectrum and quite clever. I wanted to slide him in gradually to the hobby so I picked up a copy of One Hour Wargames as our rule set.Its got great simple rules and looks like it’s going to be fast fun for post dinner games this summer. We will start with 3-4 units each working our way up to 6 each which will be based in 100 x 80mm Steel trays from Shogun Miniatures. Some extra work is being done to keep these minis viable To play JoA when they finish their 1.5 rules. The OHWG rules set refers to Red and Blue armies so English with be themed inRed , French in Blue. A friend has the Ottoman Empire and is giving it a painting for me. So we may see them on the table down the road as well. This is a partial spring clean challenge just to get some minis done and being used while we wait to use JoA proper.

One down
I lightened up a bit of the leaf green with some lighter shades of yellow and added 2 more layer nicely smashed to the tray and bases.
I’m making magnetic wound counters as well. Put a little magnet down. Squeeze some splats of hot glue. Then press a micro d20 in until cool. Primed and painted with some Citadel Blood for the Gods.
Ready for sealing. Joan of Arc comes with some Shield decals but, the sculpted sheids are my favorite. Next up the levies.
Greener grasses
I painted the bases in just some basic hobby paints with a crappy brush. Basically took a jungle green, and a leaf green just based coated the smashed the brush on tray making patches of green.
Getting Parade ready
Getting going here Base coats of contrast Blood Angels red, Templar black, and snake bite leather. Highlight of reaper honed steel (justadab).
Rally call
First will be creating the bases and regiments. My Men At Arms for the English will not have spears. The unit trays will be Shogun miniatures flanged steel trays. I think the flanges will be good for picking up, pushing and maneuvering of the units. I sprayed the trays with Rustoleum automotive primer. I will be using 14 models per Foot unit and Magnetized and primed with Contrast wraithbone. I will be be using mostly contrast paints on the models.
I first painted the model‘s On the lefts armor with Reaper honed steel the washed with Nuln oil. I then decided to use on contrast black Templar on the armor on the model on the right with A highlight of honed steel on the I liked this more and will go with this instead.
