About the Project

My first attempt on building a 28mm napoleonic army using the Black Powder second edition staterset Waterloo from Warlord games. I may add some extras to properly build up the two forces.

So. Here is the progress I made on the british officer miniature. I decided to go with the  light blue to paint the facings to represent the Kings German Legion (KGL).

Here is the conclusion on building and painting the british Infantry of the starterkit. The 48 figures are enough to build two medium sized units for Black Powder. Although they are lacking their colors and officers. I will most likely get them on a later date.

And here we go with the french Officer. I tried out some new paints and Vallejo Model Colors did not disappoint, as always in my experience. It was a bit tricky to fix the sword which had two bad bends in it. The issue was mostly fixed but a little bit of the deformation is still visible.

Here are the finished French figures of the Starterset. It was quiet interesting to actually figure out what color the pompoms on the Shalos were for whichcompany.

Red for Grenadiers

Green for the First company

Blue for second company

Orange for 3rd company

Purple for 4th company

And either red or yellow for the Chasseurs. But they could vary.

The second battalion companies used the same colores but had a white dot in the center of their pompoms.

After basing the two big infantry groups I decorated the base with some acrylic gel mixed with sand. After application and drying time I painted the base in brownshades and added some static grass, tufts, little stones and the odd little shrubbery.

Build and painted the British 6pdr cannon. Build a base and used the same technique as before. I added selfmade shrubbery, which is a little eyecatcher next to the excellent figures and cannon.

I got around to paint the Chasseur a Cheval. The 16th regiment had bright blue faceings and wore a light green to almost applegreen uniform jacket instead of the more common dark green.

Here is my take on the Hanoverian Infantry Battalion Bennigsen. (The town not the russian general, although his family used to rule that area)

The Battalion was split up to make the core of the new Intfantry Regiment and was therefore supplemented with Landwher men and fresh recruits.  Most of them were using the same uniforn as the British and Honoverian army, but their headgear was often a wild mix of Tschakos, Schirmützen, garrison caps and french Tschakos. I represented the mixed formation of properly drilled amd experienced troops with fresh recruits by using this mix of Tschakos and Schirmützen.

What is next?

The contents of the Starterbox are all build, painted and based. Technically that is it. But I think I will add command units to the Battalions before finishing this Project.
