About the Project
A long time ago in a land far away, well Ireland, I attened the Team Yankee bootcamp and came away with my US Army Force, never really got much to do with it after that, but i've got a real hankering for small scale modern combat at the moment, so here I am painting up my American's before I got another side or two so I can either play solo, or entice friends into a game. I had started this process before Warren and Co announced the spring clean challenge, but not having created the project log for it yet, i thought I might as well.

Manpower.
Just a quick update really, my infantry have finally arrived from QRF, got them all based and started painting them.
The Red Coats Are Coming!! Beginning The Armoured Tigers...
While I’m waiting on a delivery of some greenstuff and a load of tiny fighting men’s, so my Americans have enough infantry, I made a start on my British force.
The camo scheme for them is a tad simpler, the standard two tone, Green/Black, scheme. For this I used the same basic method as with the Chaos black Primer coat, liberal us of the panzer putty, then an airbrush coat of VMA Camouflage Dark Green,
Once that was sorted I then used a wash of Secret Weapons “Baby Poop”, such an odd name right?
Below you’ll see a picture of one of the scimitars with the wash and the other with out, once the wash was dry I give the mini’s a light drybrush of AP Banshee Brown over the green’s and Coat D’Arms Field Blue over the black’s.
Once I’d settled on how I was doing my cam scheme I set to work on the bulk of the force, The Warrior Armoured Infantry Company, which includes 3 platoons of 4 warrior, and the Company HQ of a single Warrior,(3d printed as I only needed one more.)
In addition to starting work on a Lynx Helicopter, Callsign Red Knight...
Weathering a Desert Storm....
Today was spent mostly playing with weathering powder, having owned some for a fair while but never having actually used them I must say it was one hell of an experience, a messy experience….
Churn and Burn baby
Well, its the second day of my corona leave from work, so I did more hobby in the shed, aswell as some 3d printing. I started by setting the 3d printer to print two F32 Lightenings, for some much needed air support for the US Army, I also tried my hand at doing some weathering on a couple of the vehicles. I’m just waiting for the pigment binder to dry before taking some photo’s
cant think of a snappy title.
Today hasn’t been a great day really, but I put myself out into my shed to do some painting to take my mind off things, one of the first things I got round to doing was painting some infantry. Afterall whats a mechanised infantry company if it doesn’t actually have infantry.
After those guy’s I started on painting up the Bradleys, using the same method for the camo as every other vehicle in this little force. once they wer done I cracked on with the company commander and his command vehicle.
Orders of Battle
Gonna talk about what I actually want from my US Army now, I didn’t want to go tank heavy like most armies I’ve seen in Flames of War. So I decided that the Core of this force would be mechanised Infantry in M113 APCs, So we start with a Company HQ and at least 2 platoons, I’ve got enough to cover this already but I do want a full company of 3 platoons so will need to pick up some extra APCs at some point.
Our poor bloody infantry needs some support so next up we have, a Heavy mortar platoon with separate FIST observer, Anti-Tank platoon and a air defence platoon, all mechanised. everything being in pretty much the same vehicle comes they can all keep up with each other if need.
Now it wouldn’t be a US combat team if it didn’t also include some actual armour, so here I have chosen to go with just a troop of 3 Abrams. But not content with just that, and wanting more infantry aswell, I decided to also include an Armoured Infantry support platoon mounted in Bradleys. So using my 3d printer I printed enough off to field said platoon.
Let's Glamouflage!!
Thought I’d start with going through how I’m doing my Desert cam scheme
