About the Project

So, it's the bolt action bootcamp weekend!! I've not got alot of the miniatures or anything as I've only just started looking into the game. I have however got a 1/48 RAF Mosquito B!! So I thought why not make it up for a terrain piece ? maybe in landed in europe somewhere or as a little alternative historical german raid on an airfield here in the UK ?

So.... Revell kits are a little more complicated from your standard wargaming kits. A little terrible of me and I'm sure the avid scale modellers will not be pleased but I'm definitely going to simplify this kit for use on the tabletop. The interior and the pylons are definitely going to be missed off ? So.... Revell kits are a little more complicated from your standard wargaming kits. The build is complete, I forgot how fiddley scale models are! I've missed the interior as planned and left out a few smaller details that just won't last on the tabletop. Just waiting for the last bit of glue to dry and it's onto painting ? The build is complete, I forgot how fiddley scale models are! So all the glue had dried so I've given the whole aircraft a base coat. I went with black rather than white but I think I may regret that as the lighter colours will require more coats. So I went with fenrisian grey and boy do I regret using black as the basecoat. But I've started now? definitely needs another coat though! So I went with fenrisian grey and boy do I regret using black as the basecoat. But I've started now? definitely needs another coat though!
So the green camo is down. It really does look very blue and it could've been washed down a little but it'll do for some terrain! So the green camo is down. It really does look very blue and it could've been washed down a little but it'll do for some terrain!

So thats all the paint on her, very very basic paint scheme but perfect for terrain. I had a little steaking on the wings too so she doesn't look to new. On to the decals next ?So thats all the paint on her, very very basic paint scheme but perfect for terrain. I had a little steaking on the wings too so she doesn't look to new. So after all the paint went on it was still a little too clean. I added a watered down army painter soft tone over the whole model working from front to back so any streaking would look like dirt. I then added the bigger decals, the small ones I left off as I don't think they're needed as terrain. After a coat of a sprsy varnish I then added a gloss to the windows. This makes them look more like glass. So after all the paint went on it was still a little too clean. Size comparrison with some Bolt Action US Airbourne, the 1/48 definitely works. I'm really please with how it's turned out. Now to plan the next part of this themed terrain....Size comparrison with some Bolt Action US Airbourne, the 1/48 definitely works. I'm really please with how it's turned out.
