P-VLOG Building The Adeptus Mechanicus Army
Welcome to another Project VLOG here on Beasts of War. In this one we'll be going over some of the stages we went through to get our Adeptus Mechanicus army up and running, so feel free to comment and add you thoughts on how you get new forces ready for the tabletop.
We've had a lot of fun building this particular army so make sure to get chatting about our army and of course any of yours that you've been working on.
What would you like to see us work on next for Warhammer 40,00?
Blogging At This Event:
Painting Begins
Ok well that's a lot of red for us to get through! It's now time to start adding the details to the massive army we've got waiting on the tabletop. There's such a lot of choice that it's hard to pick out what to start with...
Where would you begin?
Painting The Servitors
Khrystan gets stuck into showing us how we actually got started on the Servitors for this army. He'll be going into detail about the various stages that we go through to bring them up from the base colour and make them stand out on the tabletop.
Meet The Leaders Of Our Army
Every good army needs a leader and we've got a number of different characters we're going to be using to lead the way in our games of Warhammer 40,000. What do you reckon to the work we've put in to make these fellows stand out from the rest?
Painting Progress Report
We're back to look at how the Adeptus Mechanicus army is coming together by checking out what stage some of the rest of our models are at. We get a closer look at a lot more of our finished models and consider what we're going to work on next.
Final Work On The Basing
We're back chatting about how we finished work on the basing for this army. We think it ties everything in nicely and that's the key with a base - don't overwhelm the model either!
Choosing The Weapon Colours
Choosing the colours for our Adeptus Mechanicus force was a hard one. We wanted them to stand out from the model but also be tied into their theme and the overall scheme. So, see what we went for here and let us know if you like the results.
Units Gearing Up For War
We couldn't resist seeing how army was taking shape and how they would appear on the tabletop. The Adeptus Mechanicus really are one of the most striking armies to have on the tabletop in their bright red!
Sydonian Dragoon 360° Video
We're back with another close up on some of the work we did to get the Sydonian Dragoon looking spectacular on the tabletop. We're proud of how these turned out with such a simple scheme...
What We're Planning For The Second Knight
It's time to work out how we're going to paint the second of our big Imperial Knights (from DreamForge Games) that will be supporting our troops on the battlefield and giving us some additional punch!
Stages Of Painting The Knight
It's time for a special video where we take you through just how we're going to be painting the second of our Knights. Take a look at the various stages we went through in making this model come to life from base coating onwards...
Quick & Easy Battle Damage
Now it's time to start making these Adeptus Mechanicus warriors look like they have been through the ringer a bit! We show you how to do battle damage on the rather impressive Knight we have working for our Mars based robot lovers...
Imperial Knight 360° Video
To finish things off see what you think of the finalised Imperial Knight. This should be a big red mean foe for your opponents to have to contend with on the tabletop. Impressive AND useful...
Imperial Knight Final Details
We now finish off work on the Imperial Knight thanks to DreamForge Games with a look at how we can make it pop that little bit more on the battlefield. These kind of details are key to get right as you don't want to overload the model with guff!
I think next time we would set the base coat of this army to be an Orange shade, as that scheme has really grown on me 🙂
@warzan Really depends on what forgeworld you are building for in my opinion, as blood angels are my primary 40k army, im keen to paint my fledgling mechanicus force something non red for a change…
either way i cant help but think a LOT of the mechanicus fluff was inspired by gamma ray, specifically: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uTEo9h60_4&list=PLzhLwzWgfMs0Ty7x81bx2ZapDZGmLL3TB
Am i the only one who thinks the band gamma ray inspired a lot of the mechanicus fluff, specifically this song Men, Martians & Machines?

:3 this is amazing and i love Gamma Ray! HEAVEN OR HELL!!
So far so good. I like how the red priming went along. It looks class on the Knight.
When will we see more???
the arachnid banenid? tank & the alternative knight may have been spoils of war on a system that adeptus mechanicus fleet has conquered as other fleets are.
Looking great guys! I have an Imperial Fist army that needs finished. Maybe I’ll head down to my hobby lab and get started today.
For me there have been a couple of pointers and tip’s that an old dog has learned the tooth pick for a second coat on the basing is rather special and transfers right across the spectrum. The second was unintentional and that is the motorised rotating bases I know they have been around an age but they give such a good 360 degree I am going to try and find some in different sizes from small to extremely large as I want to make some dioramas all for my own pleasure. The articles have been great one of if not… Read more »
thanks very much for the kind words, every new project helps us learn so we can show of the minis better and show the hobby off as best as possible. glad you enjoyed this
Love this series. Much better then the other 40k series “charted”. When I see this it makes me want to paint up my 40k army again. I’ll use this quick base coat method as well.
very nice
Very Very Nice
when do we see the battle report, please
I’ve just got to the end of all the Mechanicus week videos and I have to say I really enjoyed them. It was like getting an extra DVD box set for Christmas.
