New Announcements From GAMA 2019
With GAMA 2019 kicking off this week we're going to be keeping an eye on what is happening at the show and sharing with you all of the new game and miniature announcements by the different companies who are arriving at the show.
GAMA continues to expand with more and more companies popping up to share what's happening with their various properties. We're going to be picking out the best from this and sharing it with you here.
If you spot a new announcement from GAMA make sure to drop it into the comments below and we'll see about adding it to our list!
Judge Dredd: Helter Skelter Announced By Osprey Games
The team at Osprey Games announced a new Judge Dredd 2000 AD game called Judge Dread: Helter Skelter!
“The game brings some of 2000 AD’s most well-known characters to the streets of Mega-City One, fighting for the shattered fragments of their own universe! Faction-specific action decks and new special character abilities give each group their own playstyle, from the well-armed Judges with their explosive ammo to the bestial fury of Sláine and his Celtic allies. Playing to your faction’s strengths and exploiting your opponents’ weaknesses will be the key to claiming victory on the streets of Mega-City One.”
This sounds like a great way to bring a whole bunch of awesome characters into one game world and since Osprey and Martin Wallace have been knocking it out of the park with Wildlands I can see this going down a storm!
Kill Team Elites Announced & More By Games Workshop
Games Workshop have been talking more about their expansions for Kill Team this year at GAMA with the option to throw Elites into the mix.
We’ve talked more about the announcements in their post on the website which you can find HERE.
Make sure to check it out for chat about Halflings for Blood Bowl and also Kal Jerico dropping into Necromunda.
Restoration Games Bringing Unmatched To The Tabletop!
Ever wanted to see who would win out of Robin Hood & Bigfoot? Well, Restoration Games are going to be testing this with Unmatched, a new set of tabletop brawler games.
“Unmatched is a highly asymmetrical miniature fighting game for two or four players. (Note that this set is solely for two players, but it can be combined with other sets, which all serve up to four players.) Each hero is represented by a unique deck designed to evoke their style and legend. Tactical movement and no-luck combat resolution create a unique play experience that rewards expertise, but just when you’ve mastered one set, new heroes arrive to provide all new match-ups.”
As well as the two player game above there is also a four-player set (two versus two) which will include characters like King Arthur, Alice, Medusa & Sinbad.
The new artwork by Oliver Barrett is looking stunning and we can’t wait to see how this actually plays at the tabletop. Miniatures are included with the games so there’s something for hobbyists to have fun with too.
Does this sound like a game that might get you to the tabletop? Which mighty characters from myth, legend and folklore would you like to see joining the fray?
Pandasaurus Games Announces Mental Blocks
Pandasaurus Games has announced a new board game at GAMA this year entitled Mental Blocks.
Mental Blocks is a game of puzzling perspectives, with players trying to complete a puzzle using oversized foam blocks, despite seeing only one perspective of the design. You have to co-operate to complete the puzzle as a team, but you have a time limit, so don’t just sit around staring at the pieces. In addition to the time pressure, players have other challenges, such as not being able to talk or to touch certain colour blocks.
There are all kinds of puzzles included within the box that range from the family-friendly through to the downright challenging.
There’s even an option to throw a traitor into the mix if you feel like being a sneaky fellow!
Renegade Game Studios Reveal Lantern Dice & The Aquicorn Cove Board Game
Renegade Game Studios have also been chatting about two of their new games dropping for 2019. The first of these is a new roll-and-write (very popular right now) called Lanterns Dice: Lights In The Sky.
In Lanterns Dice: Lights in the Sky, players act as artisans, decorating the palace lake with floating lanterns and launching fireworks to light up the sky. The player who earns the most honour has made the best impression on the emperor and wins.
Roll dice and choose which coloured lanterns players can fill on their scoresheets. Earn gifts to perform special actions, fill in additional coloured lanterns, and create powerful combinations. Cover completed shapes with fireworks tiles to score points and put on a spectacular show!
I am a big fan of roll-and-write games and having Hanabi in my collection maybe it’s a good idea to start combining light shows and dice rolling. Watch out for the release in June.
In addition, they also talked about The Aquicorn Cove Board Game based on the Oni Press original graphic novel by Katie O’Neill.
“In the co-operative game The Aquicorn Cove Board Game, 2-4 players take on the roles of members of a small fishing village struggling to survive while maintaining a balance with the natural world. To win, the villagers must feed and grow their village, while helping to restore the health of the reef and aquatic ecosystem.
The villagers are fortunate, though, and the waters of their cove are home to the beautiful and benevolent aquicorns, as well as the wondrous reef guardian Aure, who can help them both to understand the impact humans are having on the environment and to save the village.”
This sounds great and a fun one for those that want to experience the graphic novel on the tabletop and follow something with a nice message.
You’ll see this game released late in 2019.
Breaking Games Bringing Dwellings Of Eldervale To Kickstarter
There’s not too much about the game just yet but Breaking Games are coming to Kickstarter with a Worker Placement game called Dwellings Of Everdale and it features miniatures like this!
You can keep up to date with the game HERE but I can safely say I am very interested indeed.
Warhammer Age Of Sigmar - Warcry
The first announcement out of GAMA for the tail end of yesterday was the coming of Warcry to fans of Age Of Sigmar. The team behind Kill Team are taking us to the tabletop for some skirmishing Mortal Realms style.
It looks like the first toe dipped into this game is going to be focused around the idea of Chaos Warbands hashing it out on the tabletop, very Path To Glory style. The design on the miniatures so far is pretty fantastic I have to say.
Is this something you’re interested in? For me, I’m very much drawn to this because I love the aesthetic of Age Of Sigmar but have no want to collect a massive army!
Forbidden Power Expansion For Age Of Sigmar & Munchkin Tie In
In addition to Warcry, we also got another teaser trailer for Forbidden Power.
“Forbidden Power is an expansion for every Warhammer Age of Sigmar player that’ll put you at the heart of the latest battles in the Soul Wars. Look forward to major narrative developments, new magical powers to unleash and new rules for all of your games. We’ll have more news on just what it means for you soon.”
This will be very interesting to follow and I look forward to what it might change up.
In addition to that, we also got news that there is going to be a Munchkin Age Of Sigmar crossover in the works with Steve Jackson Games.
What do you think is going on with Forbidden Power?
Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress - Traitor Command Revealed
It’s not all Fantasy-based releases for Games Workshop this time however as Warhammer Quest gets an update with Traitor Command.
“Traitor Command is a new adventure pack for Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress that sees you descend into darkness to crush a growing Chaos threat. You’ll face terrifying new hostiles with the Traitor Commissar and Chaos Ogryn, find strange and powerful new gear, and forge alliances with unlikely friends in Precipice…”
Much like with previous expansions you can either tackle this as its own adventure or throw it into the mix alongside all of the other content for Blackstone Fortress to see what happens.
Time Of Legends: Joan Of Arc Coming To Retail 2019
Mythic Games are coming to retail with Time Of Legends: Joan Of Arc with a new Core Set towards the end of 2019.
You can come and find out more about the game and what’s planned for the Core Set HERE.
Sneak Look At Riot Quest From Privateer Press
Over on Warmachine & Hordes Australia on Facebook, a few sneaky images popped up concerning the new game from Privateer Press, Riot Quest.
As you can see it looking to make for a quick and easy game to get in to with friends and family, avoiding some of the chunkier rules and tournament focused play that follows Warmachine & Hordes around.
I’m really liking the idea of playing with a range of heroes rather than a standard army and keeping everything condensed onto one battle map rather than across a tabletop.
We’ve not got long to wait until this comes out and maybe this is Privateer Press’ answer to games like Warhammer Underworlds, Necromunda and Kill Team.
We shall have to see how the rules feel when we get the game in our hands but it sounds like a nice new direction for them to be going in.
Unlock! Heroic Adventures Coming This Year
Unlock! Heroic Adventures from Space Cowboys was previously announced in French but will be released in English this year.
This game takes the escape room format and drops you into three new adventures…
- “Sherlock Holmes” — The master detective faces a most bizarre affair and could use your assistance as he pursues his investigation.
- “In Pursuit of the White Rabbit” — Discover Wonderland and its strange characters, helping Alice to escape in time.
- “Insert Coin” — Complete the levels of a virtual adventure, and avoid “Game Over” to escape!
I am very much interested in exploring the Alice In Wonderland and Video Game style adventures from this set especially.
This card game is entirely cooperative and you can also include an optional app which helps you with cheats, hints and more.
SolarFlare Games Bring Robotech Back To The Tabletop
Ok, before you panic…this isn’t anything to do with the tabletop miniatures game. This is a new very retro looking card game from SolarFlare Games.
“Robotech: Crisis Point is a strategic game of unit movement and area control in which you take on the role of either the Army of the Southern Cross (AoSC) or the dreaded Robotech Masters. You and your opponent manoeuvre your units trying to defeat the enemy’s forces. Using heroes and distinctive commands at the right time can turn the tide of the battle in your favour. Are you ready to defend Earth as the courageous Army of the Southern Cross or capture the flower of life as the Robotech Masters?”
They have been doing a lot of stuff for Robotech with this just the latest opportunity for this year. You can find out more of their games and what they’ve been doing HERE.

The Dredd game should be interesting.
Warhammer Community site now updated with Warhammer: Age of Sigmar – Warcry (Can they make these names longer??? [sarcasm] ). From the text, it might be a new version of “Path to Glory” for the Chaos tribes. Every model for the game is a brand new. Also new is W:AoS- Forbidden Power. Got to chat to our Warhammer Store manager about that – the advantages of being in a different time zone than OTTer HQ. He explained it as similar to Maligned Portents in the way it will effect the game. Steve Jackson Games has announced Warhammer Age of Sigmar… Read more »

Any Drop-univers news??
I believe they previewed the PHR Behemoth for Dropzone… it looks about 6 inches tall… which makes it (by a wide margin) the largest DZC unit ever. Seemingly each faction will be getting some sort of massive unit for the upcoming Battle For Earth book/etc.

Yeah I know. Thanks!
Hoped that the BoW team would have done a article.
