Blogging At This Event:
Games & Gears Features Gen Con Brushes & Anima Battleboards
We had a nice chat with our friends at Games & Gears and had a look at their new brush set- which was a must have for Gen Con. While looking around the booth, we noticed some really cool terrain boards, which they explained were their Anima Battleboards. These boards come in a set of 6, prepainted and scaled best for 28mm games. They are super durable too! An added benefit is knowing they have distributors in the states and out, so there's no horrendous shipping expense along the way.
A Look In the Case - The Others
CMON has the minis for Studio McVey/Guillotine Games', The Others in a case. If you're looking for the 7 deadly sins, they're nestled quietly behind the glass right here.
Chibi Cuteness In Arcardia Quest
A peek in the CoolMini cases offered a variety of chibi cuteness- each more adorable than the ones before.
Set Up The Perfect Dungeon With Fat Dragon Games
Fat Dragon Games is at Gen Con with their stunning, paper terrain. Not only does this terrain look amazing, its super affordable and easy to put together. You can build beautiful exteriors or detailed interiors with this system.
The Force Is Strong At The Fantasy Flight Booth
Star Wars is being played in many different ways at the Fantasy Flight Stand. The Card Game, Imperial Assault, X-Wing and Armada are all being enjoyed by fans and gamers.
Exodus & Mistfall Attract Attention At Passport Games
Board & card games are definitely the rage here at Gen Con this year. Passport Games has a couple that not only look beautiful, but have had consistent draws at their demo tables- Exodus both the base and it's expansion and Mistfall.
MicroClad Metropolis From Fantasy Arc
Fantasy Arc caught my eye as we were walking by. We've written about their Microclad Metropolis and it was awesome to see it up close. Precolored and just needs to be put together to set a really great city scene.
"That guy looks just like Wil Wheaton. Oh, that WAS Wil Wheaton. "
No CommentsCosplay on Many Levels
One of the most fun aspects of Gen Con is the people watching. Cosplay is a big deal here and it doesn't matter if you buy your costume or make your costume. Its all about having fun and sharing that fun with others. Disney, Star Wars, and game characters are all represented here. I have to say, the girl dressed as Raputina from Malifaux NAILED IT!
Well done – I wish I where there but next year – knock on wood
You two have been doing an outstanding job! Will we be able to see some new shiny things from Spartan Games – HALO Fleet Battles?
I’m going to have to find out the nearset equivalent of this event in Australia…
Thanks guys for the great coverage so far.
Any word from Hawk Wargames on their spaceships?
When will they be released? Will it be as a stater set, Fleet boxes, Individual blisters or some combination?
Got an interview with Dave. Should have it posted in a few hours. 🙂
Uhhhh, Marina Sirtis. I would spend all weekend talking to her. She is wonderfull.
Thx so far the work.
Great coverage, thanks. Any chance you could get a look at Catalyst Games and what they might have new for Battletech?
Yeah, I’d like to know what’s up with Shadowrun Crossfire.. like a street date for High Calibre Ops or Street Legends or why none one seems to know what’s happening with that game more than a mon the in advance lol
Also nice photo of the Republic Commando!
Stupid autocorrect..
the lasses did a brilliant job I thought I was there thanks
Thanks for the nice compliment! 🙂
@deltagamegirl22 @stvitusdancern I think you have always done a good job covering previous events but your GenCon coverage this year is top notch. The camera work is great and interviews really seem natural. Thank you for all the hard work!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Hello Folks , Awesome job loved the show thank you . Now when you’ll get home , after a long time on your feet . Get a big pan put your feet in it and pour about 2 quarts of cheap whisky in with them and soak for an hour or so . just relax and soak. You did awesome .
Thanks, pepsidan! We are exhausted!
So far I’ve seen a lot of stuff I didn’t know existed. It’s been great. Hope your going to treat yourselves to something nice when it’s done
I’m patiently waiting for the KD interview… ok, not so patiently 😛
As am I, trying to distract myself by cleaning house, making dinner, going to shops… it’s not working…
So… is Monday, i hope the footage is not lost or something 🙁
Don’t worry my friend, the Kingdom Death video is coming, we have just had rough internet connections while there. There is also an extra surprise for you, a video of a couple of turns for you!
Awesome!!! 😀
I was wrecked after covering Salute for one day. Four (longer) days to this standard at a much bigger show is an incredible achievement. I tip my hat to you, @stvitusdancern and @deltagamegirl, the best damn newsteam at GenCon.
@deltagamegirl22
Thanks, Ben! It was great fun but we are horrendously tired today. We definitely need a team of people next year.
Loving the Halo ground war minis!!
I suppose they won’t be plastics tho..
Btw, the sound doesn’t work for me so the interviews are unfortunately only of limited use as my lip reading skills really suck…
Try a different browser 🙂
That happens to me a lot. I use Chrome and random YouTube videos turn up completely silent (not just BoW ones so I know it’s not a BoW issue). For those ones that have the problem I watch me in IE. No clue why it happens or if it’s YouTube or chrome’s fault.
So much great stuff coming. Great job on the updates considering the time, amount to cover and the epic distraction of so many shiny things.
Well done and hats off to both of you.
As usual the best guest award has to go to Ronnie Renton 🙂 That man is an unstoppable ball of energy.
The news from GF9 also has me waiting.
Spartan Games and Halo is also going to be fun to watch in the coming year. I just hope that DW just get put on a back burner.
last line was supposed to read:
Spartan Games and Halo is also going to be fun to watch in the coming year. I just hope that DW doesn’t get put on a back burner.
Great coverage guys, thanks for doing this for the community
Thanks so much for the wonderful comments. We had a great time and love getting to share the convention with the community. 🙂
Excellent coverage! Thank you Dawn and Gianna for the great work!
I didn’t get to check out the coverage til i got home from GenCon.
Had a great time
Talked to Niel Fawcett (that guy is awesome to talk to)
Bought the Tengu Decention fron the Bushido booth, I had to wait for them to unpack them when they arrived on thursday
I was the first person to buy Tengu at GenCon.
It was a great con. was always worn out every night.
@digclaw We are STILL worn out! Darn day jobs! It was a blast though. 🙂
I really appreciate the coverage. I’m stuck here at Sturgis, again. I wish the events didn’t take place at the same time.
I had a blast at this years GenCon. I also enjoyed talking at length to these two awesome ladies. They are always a pleasure to talk to, They were at the Scale75 booth when I found them. Keep up the great work, and thank you both so much for keeping us all informed on the going’s on and the new stuff coming down the line. You both ROCK!
Just finished catching up with this. You guys @deltagamegirl22 & @stvitusdancern did a fantastic job! I guess I guess I should try to cross the pond and come out there one year…
