About the Project

Hello, While I‘m still on the 15mm train I want to show you the progress on both armies within this project log. One army will be a Samurai list of the Ii clan all clad in bright red armour. The other will be a force of Sohei warrior monks. So both forces will be quiet different in terms of looks and playstyle. I plan to use the Zen SAGA lists which are homebrew and can be found here http://www.kurpfalz-feldherren.de/zen-saga-samurai Both armies will therefore consist of 6 points. Four warrior units and a unit of veterans each.

For the Sohei fraction I used 3 different types of Peter Pig minis from the Samurai range.

Since SAGA distinguishes troop types in 3 differdnt classes (veterans, warriors and levies) I have to find a way to do The same with my units.

So for the 2 points I will use on veteran Sohei monks I use the models with the full robe. There will be just 8 of them so they will stand out a bit.

For the warrior units with naginata I decidet to mix the armoured and unarmoured Ikko Ikki models and mix them together. The white and yellow of the robes will give them a monkish flair I hope.

Sadly there are no ranged weapon armed sohei in the peter pig range so I will use ashigaru and ikko ikki aswell.

Hope you enjoy

cheers

Im done with my first few miniatures of the Ii clan.

The sashimonos of the Ashigaru were plain red as far as I could find out but elite bodyguards and Hatamoto would wear the characters „Hachiman Dai Bosatsu“ in golden letters. This was by far easier then find out some japanese names as the samurai of the clan would wear them normally on red ground.

The decals are custom made by MiscMinis. I already used some of his splendid decals for blood red skies.

Next are some Sohei warrior monks which are far easier to paint.

I started up with some Ii clan miniatures to test out the workflow for the red armours.

I only painted Samurai in 28mm scale and to made them look good in 15mm would be a whole other level.

They are nearly done now just the decals for the sashimonos are missing and some basing to be done.

Next up will be some Sohei.
