Where to start
So this is an odd one, I thought hey let’s do a project on this but then I started and before I knew it I was done, well one side completed
This was all done in one day (yesterday)
my process was.
1. Primed White, I attached each plane to a cocktail stick for ease.
2. Painted the underside of the planes in Brainmatter Beige, this did take 3-4 coats to look nice so just batch paint.
3. Paint the top of the planes in Leather Brown it will take 2 coats so again just batch it out. Just be careful at the edges do you don’t go onto the underside of the plane. I used the edge of the brush to essentially edge high the brown.
4. Using Army Green create the camouflage on the wings and body of the plane, I looked at some images online (then I looked at some spitfire images) but mostly just winged it… pun intended.
5. I used soft tone I think other use strong or dark but I was worried it would darken the plane to much, so I used a 1:1 mix of Soft tone and Medium Mixer to wash the entire top of the plane.
6. Using A blue (pick your poison) I painted the windows, this is extreme small so after I just touched up the frames with Leather Brown. It passes the 3 foot test.
7. When all dried I did the transfers everyone has their own method mine is paint the area with Gloss Varnish, soak off the transfer and use a brush to lift it and place on the glossy area, get it in position and when dried apply a Matt varnish.
8. When all done I simply Matt Varnished the entire plane.
Boom Done.
6 planes in what is probably 4-5 hours effort.
Now for the Germans.
