About the Project

My current Bolt Action army. I am recreating the 189.Stumgeschütz-Abteilung (10.6.1941), later 189.Sturmgeschütz-Brigade (8.8.1944) and then Panzerjäger-Abteilung 70 (9.8.1944). The Assaultgun Unit saw action on the eastern front and fought as part of the 9th army, 3.Panzerarmee, 4.Panzerarmee and surrenderd as part of Armee-Ostpreußen. The Unit participated in the invasion of the Soviet Union and took part in the battels in Belarus 1941-1942. It also took part in operation Zitadelle (the battle of Kursk) and later in the defensive fights to stop operation Bagration in 1944. The Unit continued to fight with the remmnants of 4th Tankarmy through the battle of the battles for East-prussia and the battle for Danzig, were the unit surrenderd at the end of the war. The Setting is spring of 1944 when the unit fought against the 1st belarusian front and through operation Bagration. The 189th Sturmgeschütz-Brigade fought within the VI. Armeekorps (6. Corps) Together with the 26. Infanterie-Division, 6. Infanterie-Division, 110. Infanterie-Division, 161. Infanterie-Division and Lutwaffen-Feld-Division 2. in their support against enemy guns and enemy armor and asisting in counterattacks to stop the Soviets. The unit was equipped with Sturmgeschütz Typ III G aka. StuG III G. The Unit consisted of a HQ battery and 3 Assaultgun batteries with 14 StuGs each and a field maintanace unit. My Bolt Action Unit will consists of the 1st battery of the 189th Sturmgeschütz-Abteilung (14 StuG III G) and Units of the 6. Infanterie-Division, 18th Grenadierregiment, 1st Company. Therefore the Armylist is made out of a veteran StuG unit and veteran Grenadier units with support of light field artillery (7,5cm leIg18 and 8cm GW34 mortar), add to that a MMG (MG42) aswell as parts of the Pionierbattalion 6. of the 6th Infanterie-Division (Flammenwerfer Frankfurt 35, flamethrower). 1-14 StuG III G 1 HQ unit 4 full sized Grenadier units late (10 men per squad) 1 mmg MG42 1 Frankfurt 35 Flammenwerfer (flamethrower) 1 8cm GW34 (motar) 1 7,5cm LeIg18(light field gun) 1 Sniper Team 1 Panzerschreck Team

I think that my supporting Infantry is not diverse enough for its setting. In 1944 most Divisions were under strengh and the StuG Brigades were a much needed support for the hard pressed Infantry. Therefore I think there should be another type of Infantry in my unit. Looking at the 6th Armycorps in 1944-1945 there are two more options to field. First, the 2nd Luftwaffe-Feld-Division or the 18th Panzergrenadier-Division. I have not made my choice so far. So I will be more than thankfull for your comments which unit I shoud add to my force.
