About the Project
With the release of the Western Desert book and listening to the Downorder and Cast Dice podcasts I have been inspired to start a new army for Bolt Action. As the title suggests, I am going raiding with the SAS AND LRDG.

A bit of weathering.
Time to grab a piece of blister pack foam and get dabbing. The jeep on the left has been attacked with some dark sand.
Next I added a little ivory to the dark sand and dabbed the edges to add more highlights. The jeep on the left shows how this looks.Painting Night
Laying down the first colours. Starting with Green Ochre, the same way I painted the truck..
My Vallejo paints arrived. My palette for the project.
Started adding thin coats of colour to pick out storage. The thin layers allow the pershading to show through. I am not too concerned about being really neat at this stage, I will add a wash and weathering later that will cover up any issues.
I got the infantry with some base layers too while the jeeps were drying.
Done for this evening.First Outing - i couldn't wait to get these models on the table.
I haven't done any more painting yet, but wanted to try the SAS out on a raid. Target in sight.

Well I figured that my SAS need something to blow up, so I have some aircraft incoming from eBay. A couple of Stuka’s and a JU52 transport.
I also realised I don’t have any “British” paints so some new Vallejo colours on the way too.
Next painting night is Friday. I’ll have more pictures then 🙂
"Borrowed" Truck
I had a spare Opel Blitz truck that I hadn't painted up for my German army. I decided that the SAS had liberated the truck in an earlier raid.
Mid way. Under coat with Ochre green, wash with strong tone, then sponge stippling with dark sand and a touch of ivory.
Pretty much finished Building and Under coating.
I started by building 2 Jeeps as per the normal instructions.
I have another 2 that I will try to make look slightly different.
I then hit them aerosol undercoat to get some Zenithal highlighting.
