All Three Factions Get New Ships In FFG’s Star Wars X-Wing Update
April 21, 2015 by brennon
Fantasy Flight Games have added four new ships to Star Wars: X-Wing which include two for the Scum & Villainy faction alongside one each for the Rebels and Imperials. See what you think of them below...
Scum & Villainy
The first two ships that we get a look at are the Hound's Tooth and Kihraxz Fighter for those miscreants of the galaxy. We'll kick things off with the bigger of the two...
"A modified YV-666 light freighter, Hound’s Tooth was the signature vessel of one of the galaxy’s most notorious bounty hunters and slavers, the fearsome Trandoshan Bossk."
...which is a massive ship when compared to some of the other ships, especially the second addition to the Scum & Villainy faction.
"The Kihraxz assault fighter was developed specifically for the Black Sun crime syndicate, whose highly paid ace pilots demanded a nimble, powerful ship to match their skills."
I really like the look of this ship which looks like an interesting take, or indeed modification, to the kind of Clone War dropships that we would have seen in Episode II and III of Star Wars but with more of a focus of it being a fighter.
Rebels!
The Rebels are getting themselves a new type of ship that I never knew existed. See what you think of the K-Wing which looks like it's from an entirely different Sci-Fi universe to me...
"A heavily armed bomber that could double as an escort or reconnaissance vessel, the Rebellion’s K-wing was frequently flown on strafing runs against planetary targets and slow-moving capital ships."
This particular ship comes with four shield and five hull making it quite the durable member of the Rebel fleet. I think the design of it is really cool too even though I don't see it belonging to the Star Wars universe. However, there are a lot of ships out now I had no idea about!
Imperial Might
Last but not least is a new destructive force for the Imperials in the TIE Punisher that looks like a TIE Bomber that's been turned up to eleven. See what you think...
"A beefier version of the TIE bomber, the TIE punisher built upon that starfighter’s success by adding shielding, a second bomb chute, and three additional ordnance pods, each equipped with a twin ion engine."
A pretty insane looking vehicle that comes with more bombs. Surely that makes it better right? Two torpedo slots, two missile slots, and two bomb slots give you extra flexibility in a dogfight.
What do you think of the new ships?

Time to say goodbye to x-wing, its not star wars anymore.
It’s still Star Wars, they’re just having to dip deeper into the EU stuff.
At the end of the day just play with what feels Star Wars to you. It’s your hobby.
I am loving that they are bringing even more EU stuff. Hopefully some day we see Imperials get Gunboat, Missileboat and Howler.
The fact that the K-wing gets SLAM gives me hope the Missile Boat will turn up eventually…
Hmm…Slam action. Looks interesting. I hear what hithero says but this stuff looks fun.
Interesting. Looking at the components Hounds Tooth also comes with a dial and card set for another Scum Headhunter variant as well.
Yep. The FFG preview notes that the “Hounds Tooth” title allows the player to deploy Bossk’s personal escape Headhunter, the “Nashtar Pup”, that you get the relevant ship card & token for 🙂
Hounds Tooth looks brilliant, albeit a sandcrawler with wings.
I knew it looked familiar…
The TIE Punisher looks exactly like something I would expect out of any military engineering system: When in doubt, add more guns.
The Imperial ship is the only one I can associate with its faction immediately due to the iconic styling.

Funny though…. this is the second rebel ship (after the E-Wing) that according to canon content so-far, did not appear in service until after the destruction of the second Death Star. Both K- and E-Wing craft are New Republic designs.
K Wing looks god awful but the others are nice
LOL 😀
I like it! 😉
The K-wing seems like the sort of ship that sounds awesome when you read about it in a book, but not so much when seen as a model or even drawn in a comic.
Bossk was always my favourite bounty hunter, very excited to see his ship. Turns into a little ship too? My locals are playing this, damn I’m running out of excuses.
Ps someone tell lego it needs to make these 😉
