Interesting. Honestly the lack of points is the ONE thing that does not need any fixing in AoS, in my opinion. On the other hand I would (and will) gladly do without the new ugly miniatures and the nonsensical new background.
To each his own, I suppose
I actually used the Flames of War paint, I went with “Firefly Green” for my vehicles. In the bottle it seems wrong but after application and an enamel wash with AK’s Dark Brown for Green vehicles I think it looks bang on.
Also points does not equal balance, sure a tonne of feathers and tonne of lead would balance, or 500 horses vs a 500bhp engine but they could hardly be called equivalent
After reaching the end of my tether with 8th I switched to God of Battles and haven’t looked back. I gave AoS a fair crack but as mentioned, found it well short of standard.
Can appreciate people wanting points, but frankly go with the change, or just divine some points for sigmarines to use in 8th. If you cant negotiate a fair fight with your opponent just refuse to play on grounds of being a dick and press for your club to impose a no dicks rule where transgression [...]
Yup stopped playing WH when 3rd was current, and all subsequent editions did was dull my interest further. AoS got me to dust off my wood elves after 17 years of exile in a shoe box…
They are ok for their intended audience, i.e. kids getting into the hobby, which is GW’s #1 objective. As for established gamers well yeah they do leave something to be desired, but for just having fun they are great. My take is that AoS is like the candycrush of wargames, not a lot of complexity [...]
Thank you @chrisg , I don’t think I could get higher praise than that. I assure you I’m totally genuine… I feel a bit of fraud though because I still think of myself as a beginner with lots to learn compared to many of the peeps on here who have been painting for many years. You’ve [...]
What’s going to be great is no matter what miniatures you have, Dr Who can fit into it.
Imagine a D&D game with cybermen running around and the Dr joins the adventurers.
Any genre, to give it a new twist throw the Dr in and a couple of Daleks
Whilst getting really frustrated that I couldn’t get my last mini how I wanted it, I decided to have a break and just paint something silly for fun. So, I decided I’d make a mini version of my daughter so she could be “in” the game Also a great excuse to try a little [...]
Or the countless half-finished or never-started armies that continually pop up for sale . I agree that the AoS ruleset is ‘ok’, but given the industry standard for rulesets that is way short. I’m not complaining. GW have no obligation to give me what I want and I have no obligation to buy what they’re [...]
The models are expensive. They cost a lot because at each stage you’ve got to pay someone to produce them. That costs time. Then you need to sell them, which requires writers, artists and so on, which again costs money. Then you need to distribute them, which costs even more money. Then you’ve got taxes [...]
