The Next Wave of Dark Eldar… in resin…
May 26, 2011 by beerogre
Here's the next wave of the Dark Eldar... this time the (almost obligatory) Wracks have been included.
Despite the current hoo-ha, these Dark Eldar really are very pretty. I particuarly like the Wrack with the big square bat!
Alothough I think of all the Dark Eldar I have seen so far, the Haemonculus ranks alongside the Beastmaster as the most average in the range... I think I would have to convert either of those if I were to ever play 40K.

The Haemonculus is alright. Its nothing special. But I would buy it.
The Wracks… meh, not the best i have seen. Though the acothyste does look great, I will definitely be buying some.
The Grotesques will all come with the same left army! And its only available on the webstore?!
But I do quite like the sculpt. Even if its is £12.30 per guy!
But I will definitely be buying the Razorwing! Cheaper than a Ravager (in pounds) and I find more attractive, and useful.
So all in all, a couple of good points, but mainly a “meh” release.
I like the stuff, I’m not anywhere close to a dark eldar player but knowing a few I understand how these all work, but as their prices seem somewhat reasonable now if they were to jump on saturday I won’t even bother getting on for my shelf
Nothing special imo, I WANT MY TYRANID SECOND WAVE!!!
Yeah, its a shame. I got a Nid and a BA army, and until the second wave the bugs sleep on my shelves.
Didn’t you hear? The ‘Nid second wave was eaten by the Squats.
No! Squats are gone, get over it! I want my TYRANIDS!!!! AAAAAHHHH!
All pretty average if you ask me.
Thats some huge harley pistons the grotesque got on his back :p
Again, I like them, feel they capture the ‘feel’ of the army very well, apart from the haermunculous, which obviously is sculpted on the same wire frame as sanguinor started out on – did they make a job lot and have to base one mini per army on some faux crucifixion pose? As good as the grotesque model is though, its a single model with swappable head for near enough £13, and minimum unit size is 3, so theres £40 a unit, with no variation in stance between them for that outlay. Thats poor from a modelling perspective never mind… Read more »
The Grotesque model is the only one which seems to have had any real thought put into the posing, and depending on how big it really is even the price doesn’t seem too bad if you get a slight discount from one of the evil indie online stores. Of course I am looking at this from a non-GW standpoint. I can see a lot of use for the Grotesque in scifi skirmish, superhero and weird world war games. Better yet because it is a big thrown together scientific abomination it won’t look wrong next to realistically proportioned models (something which… Read more »
there just getting better and better
I’m not impressed with this release. Overall very meh. The Haemonculus is a horribly static pose, reminds me of a some of the figures cast 10 years ago. The Grotesque looks like its doing some weird dance, just seems an odd figure overall.
On the plus side the Wracks do look quite nice, if a little static, the sculpting and feel of the model is alright. I would have liked to have seen a couple of extra leg scuplts at the moment they are all standing quite still.
Why are the Wracks standing still????? Why are their feet together? Whats with the motionless?
This was the wave of releases i was pinning my decision on for starting a Dark Eldar ‘Haemonculus Coven’ army and i after viewing these ive decided im NOT gonna be starting this as my next 40k project. Why? First of all i am dissapointed that the generic ‘Haemonculus’ figure simply follows the pose of Urien Rakarth. It seems no thought has gone into making it a dynamic edition to the range. There are so many wonderful and twisted things they could have done with it and once again its a missed opportunity to create something truly memorable (like the… Read more »
They did excellently on the dark eldar I feel. Generally like the models but have several that I love. Not a big fan of the haemonculus but the razorwing looks so cool it doesn’t matter.
Do think the release with scourges couldn’t be topped though – some of these do look a tad motionless in comparison.
I quite like the static pose on the Wracks, it makes them look like they’re guarding the Haemonculus instead of rushing into combat.
Also, they remind me of Pyramid Head from Silent Hill, which is a plus.
the static pose suits the wracks. With every other DE model posed as though its charging towards the enemy at 90 MPH you’ve got to have something to break the mould. The pose makes the wracks look as though theyre stalking towards the enemy with only the slow, painful dessication of their foes on their minds.
