The Mars Attacks Miniatures Game Gets Closer [UPDATED]!
September 12, 2013 by brennon
Mantic Games look to be launching Mars Attacks: The Miniatures Game very soon and the internet is pointing to a start date of October 4th. So the Martians attack one day after my birthday, awesome!
Above you can see some artwork for General Tor and below that a pair of the digital sculpts for the Martians themselves. As you can see they have followed on from their design choice to make them one piece models with a stance that will easily come 'as one' on the sprue.
In a nice find we've spied out some more renders from the upcoming Kickstarter...
So there you have it, the render for General Tor above! It's all looking pretty swish isn't it?
You also might have spied that we linked through to another website above which shows off the box art, maybe?
Are you saving the pennies for this one?

There are many new and great things coming, DZC, Deadzone, … and I’m afraid this will not come on my wishlist for now.
I’m wetting my pants about this, not a massive fan of the movie but love retro!
Maybe I’ll go watch the movie again see how i feel about it now, its been a while since I’ve first seen it.
It’s gonna be awesome!
I’d recommend picking up this – the new, expanded Mars Attacks universe has spawned a comic series, and this will give you a proper insight into what the game’s like. 🙂

James tell me this, when do we get to see flying saucers with death rays!
Soon – although how soon depends on the Kickstarter! Initially we’re just planning the basic box, but stretch goals being what they are we’d love to see some flying saucers with death rays… and a few with freeze rays, too!
I can’t wait to see more about this when the kickstarter launches.
what kind of plastic are you planning on using with these?
The same plastic that’s used in the Gears of War board game. Very good at holding detail, but slightly more flexible than normal – this makes it easier for us to make all the miniatures one-piece. (Some will be more than one-piece, but in general they’ll be pre-assembled.)
Incidentally, having painted a Gears of War set, the flexibility doesn’t make it any less paintable!
Very curious to see how this game plays. I’m loving Dreadball and am looking forward to Deadzone so I got some high hopes for this.
Ack, ack ack ack! Ack ack!
Whilst this looks fun, I can think of a good few movie properties i’d rather have seen realised in miniature game form than this. For example, I’d love to see Mad Max get a ‘Dark Future’ style box game. Even John Carpenters ‘The Thing’ would make a great game in a box product. Mars Attacks just doesn’t do anything for me. ACK ACK ACK ACK ACK!
It’s actually nothing to do with the film – it’s all based off the trading card / comic book series.
(But yeah, a game based around The Thing?? I could totally get on board with that.)
With this and Deadzone coming out i know where my next paycheck is going.
hrm. I haven’t seen the gears of war board game in person.
In any case, October can’t come soon enough!!
I’ll have to get a picture of my ones up – in the meantime, google images turned up this shot which shows the level of detail quite nicely! http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kazzjNLKNqE/T-i9x-VvyTI/AAAAAAAABfw/7QNZ9tKspkw/s640/Drone06.JPG
they look EPIC 😉
Ba-zing!
They look real nice. I take it if its based on the trading cards we will soon see giant bugs!
This looks like a bit of mad bad fun.
This is definitely one I’ll be pledging. Looks cool.
So very under-whelmed
