Slice & Dice With Forge World’s Solar Auxilia With Power Axes
October 31, 2015 by brennon
Forge World have revealed another impressive new unit for you to use on the tabletop for Horus Heresy era gaming. See what you make of the deadly Solar Auxilia Veletaris Storm Section armed with Power Axes...
More information about these soldiers...
"Usually forming part of the Solar Auxilia’s Infantry Tercios, Veletaris Storm Sections also serve as the Household Retinue of commanders and Lord Marshals. When doing so they often bear ceremonial power axes which, whilst finely wrought, are suitably deadly in battle.
The elite of the Solar Auxilia, who are themselves the best of the Imperial Army, they are considered second only to the Space Marines of the Legiones Astartes in combat."
You get ten models within the set each of them looking like they are about to open a few tin cans with those weapons. I really like the style of the axes with a haft that has a protective bar allowing them to parry.
They also look rather awesome when painted. With Horus Heresy all the rage at the moment I could see a few people splashing out for these models to add to their collection. I like the degree of movement they have worked into some of the sculpts which can't have been easy considering how bulky they are.
What do you think of them?

I’m a lumberjack and that’s OK!
I think they look more like steampunk firefighters! Which is quite cool.
I swing through trees as I work all day.
Awesome miniatures.
I like them, I would add sidearms though to try and be a bit more realistic.
I found the lack of some kind of gun a bit odd as well. My only issue them.
Those are very good.
Great miniatures.
they are good but remind me of a bunch of angry welders, long live the imperial guard.
I really dig the industrial look of the Solar Auxilia, looks more realistic and like it is repurposed gear. Rarely ever care for humans in miniature games but may pick some of these up.
That’s the best looking axes I’ve seen in some time. Seems like a weapon that could be real.
