Definately going to split this box with my Yu Jing playing buddy. Love the Haqqislam minis, eventhough I had never considered them previously.

I got into this game with Operation Icestorm, largely because of the coverage on BoW. It blew my mind and since then I have been taken on a Hobby journey like no other. The miniature painting, terrain building and obviously the game itself is, what I believe, the best possible war-games experience out there.
And now you release this! Corvus Belli you are smashing it!!!
Even the paper terrain in this set is amazing.
I want this box. The minis are awesome.
Does Red Veil replace Ice Storm, or will they both be good starters?
I’ve not been able to watch the video above with sound yet sadly, but I’ve not seen it written anywhere that Red Veil is going to replace Ice Storm; most likely, it is merely an alternative.
Ice Storm is still an excellent boxed set tbh. If someone were unsure of which one to get with no preference of starting faction, my gut reaction would be to say that Red Veil has most likely benefited from CB’s increased experience in model design since Ice Storm’s release and then leave the decision up to that person.
The only negative I can think of wrt Ice Storm, is that I had real trouble lining up the arms with the gun hands on the male Alguacils (and to a slightly lesser extent, the Grenzer) and I know I’m not the only one.
I will say the new scenery looks really good as well (I’ll probably buy an additional pack for my little girl, who is just over 3 and a half, as she likes all the Infinity scenery I’ve collected), and again am very happy to see CB take another step forward with regards to its design.
This set does not replace Icestorm in that Icestorm will still be available to buy, there’s even an advert for Operation Icestorm in the back on the Red Veil booklet.
As for which one to get it depends on which factions you would like to play, PanO & Nomads or Haqqislam & Yu-Jing
And at the moment the preorder promo figure is also very tempting 🙂
they may choose to phase out Ice Storm at some point. don’t worry though, it will just make room for more awesomeness.
Ice storm is/was such an awesome box, but I never got it as swore not to get into another system. I’ve cracked slightly since then and bought a Bakunin starter box…let’s see how long I can last with all these new goodies coming out!

(4) a significant other that thinks this obsession with metal bits is crazy

I’ve avoided it because none of the factions clicked with me design wise. There have been individual ones I like such as Rao (who looks scarily like me but with a smaller nose), the Muyibs, and the Uhlans for example, but none of the factions had enough to make me take the plunge.
That all changes with the new Yu Jing starter set. The zhangshis, the hsien, the tiger soldiers, there’s nothing about the box I don’t love. I’m just going to have to pick up a copy.
I’m liking the evolution of the carboard terrain.
You don’t see this with many other games.
Well this got me salivating as a Haqq player. Now all I have to do is find the funds and someone to split the deal with. Damn you CB 😛
Got into the Game with a fried a bit before Operation Icestorm. Since then i bought all the big boxes … and this one i’ll get too. My friend asked if we could split the Box (he plays Haqqislam) but i had to tell him: “No! They are all mine. MINE!!!!”
Well it seems not to far in the future only Aleph and Tohaa will be missing from my collection *sigh*
I struggle to see Tohaa making it into one of these 2 player boxed sets, most because of their unique rules (eg: Triad fireteam) not being great for an introductory product.
I expect when standard Aleph get an updated redesign, you’ll see them paired with standard Ariadna (who probably need an updated redesign as well).
Hehe i think the same … i could imagine Tohaa maybe as a single-Faction Box like USAriadna or the Onyxs Contact Force.
But my wallet will be happy if both Aleph and Tohaa wait a lot longer till they get any kind of those boxes 😉
I really just can’t resist those boxed Sets, be they Startersets like Icestorm or Red Veil, or the single Faction-Ones. They just call out to the collector in me … curse him ^^
I learned about BoW from the CB-forum and the Flamestrike-Campaign. Cool stuff. And a very nice new box. Shining new minis. 🙂
Interesting to hear about someone coming the other way when most people hear about BoW before the games (other than Games Workshop that is).
May come from being german, so i usally read german tabletop news sites. Icestorm sparked the interest for Infinity in our club again and so did i came to it. And with a new game system comes a new forum and all the supporting sites: news, wiki, and in this case BoW 🙂

I’m confused as to why it’s not Red Veil that’s going to be the thing you can win. Don’t get me wrong I think that Icestorm is great and the chance to win the USARF and Onyx contact force is great. I’m just a little confused is all.

Amazing models and a brilliant overall. Such a shame that i won’t be able to get that Unknown Ranger model as it is a wonderful pose. Now I have to find someone to play Infinity against as it is the game which most appeals to me at the moment.
These dudes make it so hard to just pick a faction and just stick with it.

I think is a amazing box but the haqquislam starter are much worse than the Yu Jing. The selecction of trops are worse and the ghulam of before don t need resculp.
I make haquislamm and the starter don t proveed me with nothing exciting but the Exclusive miniature finally going to make me buy it.

And then CB stick a limited ninja in this box. And I, being rather compulsive about these things, simply must have it. *sigh*

Corvus Belli are did a great job with Operation Ice Storm and now Red Veil offers two more awesome factions, I am biased as I much prefer Haqqislam and Yu Jing to Pano and Nomads! The update to the miniatures is very welcome too.

Such amazing sculpts. I came so close to getting ice storm at adepticon! Such a fool, I’m not missing out on this one. If I can’t find some one to play, I’ll just give them the army I’m not using. I never seen a starter box where every mini has had this level of effort. No matter what I’m in!!!
Corvus Belli just continues to impress. I’m certainly getting this set to expand my Haqq. And when you stack the Yu Jing starter with the awesome new ISS starter, it looks like I have no choice but to jump in on that faction as well.
Really like the new card stock scenery and the minis. Recently started Haqq this year so thats all good. Preordered and all ready looking forward to getting my hands on them!

I love this box. The terrain gets better and better. I especially like the painting tutorial in it.
The only thing I don’t like is that it doesn’t divide evenly. The Haqqislam get the big HMG troop and the extra miniature can be used by them as well. It would have been better if the extra pre-order miniature was better for Yu Jing.
This Red Veil Starter is so compelling I might just order it in spite of not even collecting the factions involved… ^^
Haqqislam looking so closely tied to the modern scenario – visually and name wise – always had me struggeling with them. I love their background and would have liked anything further away oriented – be it future or history (1001 nights for instance).
Enter: his group. Essentially being a Starter for the Cliphate subfaction. And that is really calling for me.

I hadn’t paid much attention to Infinity before now, but after this unboxing, I might be paying it more. I’m impressed to see a “one box has everything” presentation — full playmat, foldable terrain, dice and tokens — and really pleasantly surprised that the minis here are metal where so many other miniatures skirmish games have switched to plastics.
Hmm. To strip my existing Haqq & yu Jing or not….

Long time Infinity lover, long time not playing because real life xD but a friend of mine bought the N3 Human Sphere book, and I was thrilled to play again. And now, they release an amazing 2 player box with my favourite faction Yujing… Cannot wait to have it in my claws 😀 😀 😀
I wonder why Carlos associated the Zúyong with the Lt. Was that a mistake, are there fixed Lts in the beginner missions, new loadouts or what?
Also, is this one bulkier than the one previously released? There are certainly some new design details at the least.

To be honest, the only thing that I would like from Red Veil is the pre-order mini and the GenCon Unknown Ranger. Already got three armies here and I don’t think I’ll start a Haqqislam nor Yu Jing any time soon.

I like this terrain. Glad to see that they’re improving upon the other type rather than just reskinning it again.
I agree with Warren, female ghulam is probably the best miniature of the box, it’s high artistic quality is obvious and no matter who paint that mini it will always look great, in the opposite you have the ninja, in my opinion, only for veteran painters.

Corvus Belli must have some of the best artwork in this industry and their sculpts on these minis are just insanely good. These box sets are really well put together and I can’t believe how they seem to have just taken this set to another level, well done guys, well done!!

Just stunning, awesome sculpts as usual and the new card terrain is another step up from ice storm. Big Al Fasid Reg. makes it a total no brainer purchase though, what a beast!
it’s always great when the company releases models for two factions you’re interested in, in a 2 player box set. Because now it’s just the big bad 1 player starter box.

I remember when the first images of the Al Fasid were leaked, and us USAriadna players got our hopes up that it was our Blackjack. I suppose Captain Ariadna is a suitable offering, so we’ll let you off for now 😉
In all seriousness though, this box set looks amazing, and I’m tempted to have all the miniatures for display purposes, even if I’d only be wanting the ninja for gaming (being a JSA player and all).

Haqqislam already have some cool miniatures that have been calling to me, but I never made the leap into a new faction. (Already have Nomads, Pano and Ariadna).
Yu Jing and the Japanese sectorial have also caught my eye in the past, but the Ninja in this box is beyond beautiful. I would love to see my Hardcase and the ninja in a shoot out with their bows (Hardcase may need to avoid close combat though is he wants to see the mission out.)
With a range like this I may be able to make the upcoming role-play game even more cinematic and varied, rather than leaving things totally to the imagination or using markers and cut outs.

This set shows why Corvus Belli makes the most aesthetically pleasing metal minis out there. full of poise and action. Every miniature tells a story that isn’t just ‘KILL THE M@!#%@%@$#%@%#%#@%$%!@&%&*$#@$!%!^#S!!!!’, or them all standing around like chocolate teapots.
This set shows why Corvus Belli makes the best value starter set for 28mm scale games. Terrain that looks beautiful and has lots of in universe stories and yet could be used for other games if needed.
Definitely will be getting this for the local club I have been helping set up. Icestorm was good, Red Veil, I think will surpass it. I mean, hackers in the box… One thing really missing in Icestorm.

This set is getting got. Love the Yu Jing and i play them. The haqq will be useful for a infinity RPG story i have planned.
Was already leaning towards starting to play Infinity (versus starting WMH) and this sort of product just helps solidify that choice. This game is a much better fit for me.
Those new Haqqislam models are just perfect. That Kwarijh in particular.
Knights of Dice have a prefect China tower MDF kit that would go perfectly with this.

This looks so unbelievable!!! My 14 year old son and I are dying to get into this system. We are feeling a little lost after collecting a bretonnian army for the last 6 years and now feel it is time to take a break… the miniatures are beautiful and I actually met some great reps at Adepticon this year. I think this would be the game for us. I love the gameplay and the small skirmish style armies involved. They totally remind me of rainbow 6 rangers! Beautiful stuff!!

Got into infinity by playing a couple of test games with a friend with the icestorm box set. Decided for Yu Jing and now I own about two dozen minis with more coming in every other week. We play slowly, still learning the rules, started with 150 points and raise the point level every couple of games. Amazing new minis and terrain and Haqqislam will definitely be my second faction. Im not splitting the box, I’m keeping both.
I think the Red veil box is a very goodeffort from corvus belli. I’ve been looking at this game a long time but never really bought anything until now. Preordered Red veil last night
I haven’t played infinity, never been bitten by this bug. But the models certainly look very impressive and would be great to paint.
Yes! Infinity week again! I’m really looking forward to the battle reports. And I love the new box, especially since I was toying with the idea of getting another faction and was undecided between YuJing and Haqqislam. (And now I will probably end up getting both… Oh well)
I love that it’s all metal, yes it’s a bit harder to put together, but the detail for painting and the weight just make up for it so much. Much approve of all of this.

Infinity has the best starter sets. And they keep adding new ones with different factions. Great way to spread the love.
What a great starter set and the mega bundle in Warren!s words Oh My God! BOW is the place to view Infinity and in this video they do not disappoint.
I’m stoked by that terrain. USAriadna base was very nice and detailed, but Neon Lotus is heterogeneous and astonishingly beautiful. New design of terrain is a level up in terms of playability!

Now I have no idea which set to pick up. I was sold on the Nomads but Yu Jing is now neck and neck.
Haqqislam is awesome, so much character for regular troops.

We’ve just started infinity at the gaming club, and this looks like a great way to get new players in, especially with the new terrain which just looks amazing. And I’m definitely getting the gencon bundle the unknown soldier will go nicely with my USARF thank you very much Corvus Belli

CB does it again
Once again CB prove they make the best minis on the market, who else makes such dynamic, characterful miniatures. Most miniatures I just slap the paint on to get them on the table, Infinity miniatures demand better than that. I’m already looking forward to painting these up.
I just bought the Operation Icestorm starter pack, and love the models. This one looks equally stunning!
Not my factions, but they look good so might just pick them up. Strangely enough I am rather keen on the terrain too.
And just like that my resistance is broken 🙂 I’m also an Infinity holdout for whatever reason but this is the one, having a Haqqislam playing mate to go halves with is also helpful but this box is a thing of beauty

Great show Warren, one of the best what`s in the box to date. I`m loving Operation: Red Veil, all the mini`s look great and i bet they even look better up close. Not sure if the pennies will allow me to get a copy, but you never know i may find some lose change down the back of the sofa 😉
As for the mini`s, i`m split between the “Ninja” and the Haqqislam walking female trooper. There both really nice (as are all the mini`s), but as to which one i`d pick i would have to say no contest both of them. The scenery is a step up from “Ice Storm”, it`s not better than ice storm it just has those few little extra touches…..eg we now have over head foot paths (bridges), and looking at the scenery i`m sure it won`t take long before we see the scenery from both set`s being used in games.
Failing me being able to buy “Red Veil”, i`ll settle for waiting till December for a copy.
I’ve always looked at infinity and have not taken the jump. This might have to change.
I’d just been looking at Infinity last week, so this new starter is pretty perfectly timed… Love the look of that Yu Jing ninja with the bow, lovely sculpt

Damn it, CB! I tried so hard to stick to one faction, but these boxes are so attractive! Not just in terms of price, but the content and overall presentation too. I guess Warzone won’t be the only game where I will have a force for every faction 😀

Red veil looks awesome. I am always tempted to get into infinity just for the Haqqislam models, especially the snipers in the faction.
As a random have Corvus Belli considered getting a SSL certificate (https) as the lack of one is the main reason that I never (pre)order from them.
I’m sure it’s been said already but that ninja model is absolutely amazing! Sometimes CB skate a fine line in the action vs sexy scale of their female models but this one is absolutely perfect in my opinion. So much dynamism, so much sharp detail. You can imagine her actually being able to perform her combat role dressed and equipped like that (except maybe if she had to climb stairs quickly in her heels :P). A great model 🙂
Looks like my wallet will be taking some damage when this comes out!
The terrian and the mat look excellent. I think they will find themselves in alot of different games

Warren did a great job of selling the terrain – so well, I found myself craving to go in for the pre-order just for the buildings!

Looks awesome, but why oh why did the bow ninja have to be the limited mini? And it’s gonna be hard not to gut the card buildings to spice up my MDF terrain.

I do like the way this unboxing is done. The mini’s are sweet & I do like the fact that it has buildable terrain. So it is going to be interesting to see how this does against Operation Ice Storm.

Infinity is a game I can appreciate for it’s rules, but the style of the models has never gripped me. The newer Haqqislam stuff is interesting though…
Loving the figs. Just wondering why the Al Fassed regiment is so much cooler than the other has HIs. With HMG, LGL, mines, heavy pistol – the janissaries and azra’il seem bland in comparison.

And I haven’t pulled up the army lists and stats, but looks like some great forces… the operation ice storm lists are good, nice starter forces, but I don’t think they give you much sense of how Nomads play, while the Pan-O is a nice basic force … it also doesn’t help that I’m horrible at moving up the CC units and never get them into combat!!!
I really love the Haqqislam mini is with pistols, like a Starlord mash-up 😀
The more I see it the more I love these terrains and the more I consider buying some packs when it’ll become available separatly.
I have a rather large pile of to-do projects, but Infinity really has been elbowing itself to the top of my Wanted list. Looking forward to start on it!

I love the quality of Corvus Belli’s boxes. What is more when I got my Operation Icestorm one figure was missing. Thanks to their superb working customer service I got the missing miniature within a 4 days time from Spain to Poland. Ain’t that a blast?

What a beautiful set.
I find the background of Infinity very intriguing, and the models are simply awesome. The rules too are very good. It’s the bright manga-style art that I’ve found difficult to come to grips with, and so I’ve been on the fence about this game for sometime now. However, after seeing the painted models for Red Veil with their more subdued colour pallet, I’m now certain I can get over the art style and make this game my own.
I’m going to take the plunge.
Ninja model is definitely my favourite and great to see another starter set. Hopefully a trend and a good way to get more Aleph Vidic models out there hint hint!

As a Yu Jing player, I am super excited to see these get out into the players hand to be played.
They’ve done some great design work on this set. The new Zhanshi are particularly great both in general uniform and in posing… I was always a big fan of the original Zhanshi because the female model shared the same equipment, the same combat-ready posture, as the male ones, and these seem not to have abandoned the trend.

Every release for Infinity gets better and better! From its beautiful models, art style which reminds me of appleseed, to the solid game play, Infinity is my fave game! Now if I could only paint half as good as Angel.

How do you guys of Corvus Belli do this. Always make so beautiful miniatures. Really love them. I play Caledonians, but if I see these ones I want to start Haqqislam. The Ju Ying are nice too, but love the Haqqislam more. Thanks for sharing.

amazing starter set
This is on my list to get into this year. I played some games back in1st edition but never jumped into it even though I really liked the game rules, part of was due to relocating and not having anyone to play. Now though I’m really tempted by the miniature range and the fact I’m looking for a new sci-fi skirmish game. So plan is to pick up both this and Icestirm before Xmas.

Didn’t think they could do much better after IceStorm, but the new terrain is a step-up and the models are fantastic. Wasn’t considering a Haq force before this, but I’m loving those models!

Awesome that they’re varying up the terrain: It means you can start making tables using just the flatpack terrain and not have it just be a box sea!
