Stunning Artwork On Your Table With The Epic Card Game Kickstarter
June 3, 2015 by deltagamegirl22
Fans of the head to head card combat games, like Magic, may be very interested in the latest Kickstarter from Robert Dougherty - the Epic Card Game.
With a name like that, how can it NOT deliver?! This isn't their first rodeo either - they have already made a very successful card game, Star Realms.
Epic has a lot of really desirable selling points, from it's absolutely stunning artwork and ease of game play, to it's flexibility in offering the variety of playing formats that we have come to enjoy with the competitive card games- like sealed, draft, and multiplayer.
But, perhaps the biggest selling point on this one, is the buy in and price point. There is one set, in one box, which does not cost a fortune. There are no blind buy. Everyone that buys it, gets the same thing - 120 cards to create your Epic Card Game.
Each turn, players will get 1 gold to spend on a card. There are cards that cost anywhere from zero on up, so someone will always be playing something. It's all about being smart about what you play and when you play it.
Will you be getting in on this Epic Card Game?

Looks interesting. This is apparently a reworking of the Epic Trading Card Game, from 2009, which was unfortunately not very successful as far as I know. Star Realms is an excellent game, perfect for 2 players and tournaments, it will be interesting to see if this will attract the same interest. The box can be played by 2-4 players by separating the four colours into their own decks, or I believe you can just shuffle and deal the cards out. There is a constructed format for this game as well if you buy 3 boxes. This then means layers can… Read more »
oh woe, I didn’t realize this was by the Star Realms team 😀
I play Star Realms all the time ( 4 player is great fun 😉 )
… does this have similar mechanics ? 🙂
No, the mechanics are different. This is not a deck building game like Star Realms in that you purchase cards during olay. You start off with one of the 4 prebuilt decks, in one of the four colours, or a deck you that you built yourself beforehand. This is more like a CCG or LCG in the way it plays.
oh right, I see now 🙂
I was getting a little confused with the coin aspect 😛 ha ha
it just means some powerful cards cost money to play 🙂
Plus, White Wizard Games have announced a new Gambit expansion for Star Realms and a new 80 card set, Star Realms Colony Wars, which can be combined with the original game, or played on its own as a stand alone game!
