Ready the Vodka, the Russians are Coming to Dystopian Wars.

The French have already joined the battle for Earth in Dystopian Wars from Spartan Games, but now the Russian Bear has been poked and the Coalition is moving to have dominion over all...
Check out some of the preview shots below of both sea and land vehicles in the mighty White Army...
Borodino Class Battleship...
Suvorov Class Frigate...
Kursk Class Land Dreadnought...
Massive troop carriers, huge tower crushing tanks, gargantuan battleships armed to the teeth and the largest land army in the world behind them. The might of the White Army is certainly something to be wary of.
I am loving the Kursk Dreadnought right now from the previews, a great looking tank with some amazing detail going into the render. Got to hope the model will look as good, and with Spartan Games they invariably do.
Will you be donning your furry hat and joining the Russian Coalition?
Wonderfully designed models and the historian in me loves that they went for the Whites and not the normal Red army.
I also like that they haven’t gone with the tired soviet look (Khador, Russians in Dust, …). But they have not managed to completely avoid using the five-pointed star, it would seem …
Red stars aren’t Soviet things. Red was a lucky color in Russian lore since the olden days. The Soviets did a good job claiming much of Russia’s classic symbols and claiming them as their own.
Wouldn’t like to take this too far away from the topic (so welcome to reply via PM), but red stars are a soviet thing. As a symbol, they were never present in any of the Russian heraldry and vast majority of soviet symbolism was similar bogus; workers’/farmers’ utensils, cogs, …
The Kursk really is the epitome of a monolithic juggernaut with all the fine detail giving a clear idea of its size, plus the interlocking wheel design is interesting. My favourite preview though has got to be the frigate – it’s just so novel, I can’t recall ever seeing a circular ship before and it looks like a floating turret, so it gets my vote.

The funniest detail; when shooting, the damn thing spun in the water, if rudders didn’t compensate for the “axial” recoil.
I don’t know about these … Like vonjuk above I like that they went with the imperialist agenda, but the machines themselves look like they’ve been hammered together by working parties in Siberia … come to think of it, the random pipes and corrugated tin roofs make these look a bit like travelling gulags. I suppose that the Czar’s mounting paranoia could explain some of this fluffwise, I just wish they’d have used different imagery as the design basis; things like Petersburg with its Winter palace (and cool “minty” paint scheme :D), Faberge eggs, onion domes of the orthodox churches,… Read more »
Give it some time, this is only 3 renders and if you look at the last one, you’ll notice that the back has a ring around the towered part. It’s my bet that that can come off and a HQ top can go in it such as you said, the winter palace.
As for the frigate, that’s unique looking. I never seen a round ship. Im guessing that the front is the area with the 2 tubes pointing forward. Then again that could be jets to push that ship and that be the back.
Am waiting for a reply with several links to be moderated (which might take some time), but see these;

The Tsars had huge camps, too. Just not as oppressive, nasty and random as the Bolshevick’s “workers paradise” which replaced this system. Much of Russia’s industry was created by the Tsar’s regime and taken over (and credit for) by the Reds.
I do like your idea of Faberge eggs! Brilliant!!
as much as I really like the models I must admit that the first 4(or 5 ? …)factions had really distinct designs …those however dont feel particularly Russian to me :-/
I wish this game was played more in my country, there would be any 2 players starter set or something like that ?
So even in world of Dystopian Wars russians go with “bigger is better”-thinking.
I like the previews so much I have decided on them as my second fleet. Now I’m just looking forward to seeing more of them so that I can daydream about my soon to be realised Russian force!
