CMON Announce Zombicide: Invader Kickstarter
March 6, 2018 by brennon
It looks like CMON aren't done with Zombicide just yet as they are heading into space with their next Kickstarter for the game entitled Zombicide: Invader.
Here's the fluff behind this particular adventure...
"In their search for new sources of fuel, humans came across PK-L7, a small planet in a remote corner of the universe. Below the surface, they found what they were looking for. Xenium is a dark, oily, organic compound. Once refined, it becomes a game-changer for intergalactic exploration.
It wasn't long before a colony was set up and teams of soldiers and scientists began extracting the Xenium. There, deep underground, was where the first assaults began. The Xenos were vicious, unrelenting, and mindless in their attacks. Survivors have had to fight for their lives against an out-of-this-world threat that just won't stop."
The Xenos are controlled by the game itself and you will find yourself alongside five friends (plays with one to six players) battling against these swarms. You will need to complete objectives, stay alive, and kill as many Xenos as possible in the meantime.
The game seems to be doubling down on you needing to work together as, whether or not you're soldiers or scientists, you will all need to support each other as you do battle with the Xenos. Some weapons will work fine indoors but others won't function in the vacuum of space where you'll need to turn to lasers to get the job done.
The Xenos as your enemy is also meant to have received an upgrade and they will be deadlier than the zombies you've been used to facing on the tabletop.
What I'm impressed by out of the gate, just from this first preview anyway, is the fact that we're going to be getting survivors from all manner of different racial backgrounds and genders. Always nice to see!
Watch out for the Kickstarter launch on April 10th at 3pm EST.
Will you be taking a look at this one?

Looks like they’re aiming to attract a crowd looking to buy into a bucket load of proxy minis for 40k
How so? It’s a partially open universe looks wise, but I see no resemblance to typical styles of Space Marines, Imperial Army, Tyranids or Chaos…
I see tyranids, tentacled genestealers, Tau-like zombies… all good proxies for tyranids and genestealers. I also see soldiers that are barely different from space marines and terminators. The whole cover reeks of classic GW 40k art, John Blanche et al. The very composition of the piece is reminiscent of Space Hulk and Deathwing covers from way back when… Of course it’s Adrian Smith’s work, so he knows exactly what to do in that respect, as he’s done it before. The concepts (space soldiers, waves of aliens, etc.) are extremely similar to 40k, and the word “Xenos” is telltale. Naturally, all… Read more »
Wait a minute. I’m not takling about general inspiration and broad categories. *Obviously* there are parallels. It’s space soldiers fighting alien monster hordes after all. Call it a genre if you want, it’s a pop culture trope at the very least. In any case this is a question of proportion and degree. And everyone can draw their line(s) where they see fitting. To me any connection you mention is far too broad or distant to judge the designs shown here as closely tied to GW stuff. The concepts shown here are not specifically resembling 40K looks, and certainly are not… Read more »
You’re over thinking it
This all looks 100% original to me. I seriously doubt there have been any other games involving space soldiers fighting against alien creatures on a planet called PK-L7.
That cover is freakin’ Rock And Roll!
Great Adrian Smith work (no surprise here) and really cool and fresh take on “space zombies”.
Am digging the cover art, very old school GW, reminds me of Space Crusade, 1-2ed 40K etc
Definitely worth checking out.
I can’t help but wonder if we will see “infected” xeno/zombivour” versions of the characters, or if there will be some mechanic about them turning against the team after infection, that would be neat.
I never was into Zombicide due to their very cartoon style… but man, now we are talking. I m IN big time. I don’t care if it is inspired by X, Y or Z. We all take inspiration from somewhere, someone.
If the game is good and it looks as good as Adrian’s work, I’m IN 😉
Looks great space zombies & alien’s fighting human soldiers with some interesting beast’s in the background.
well I knew it was coming 😛
Anyone else getting an AT-43 vibe off the artwork?
Really not a fan, quite disappointed really, ditch Andrian Smith, get the original Zombicide artwork and art direction team back, give us something new modern and sci fi.
Elite soldiers from around the world. X com anyone?! Think Cmon may have finally got me!
damn it … just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.
I will definitely be checking it out.
