CoolMiniOrNot Announce Wrath Of Kings Starter Set
January 7, 2016 by brennon
CoolMiniOrNot have announced that they are going to be producing a Wrath of Kings Starter Set which will be out from March 12th 2016. The set will be named Honour & Trechery: Battle For Ravenwood. See what you think of the two factions you get in the box...
Inside the box you get the the Goritsi and Naiser factions as well as a quick start rules set, terrain templates and unit cards. The idea is that this will work as an inexpensive way to get started in the world and begin building on your faction.
I think these are two of the coolest looking factions in the game so it makes sense for them to pick them as the starter ones. I already know that some of the guys in the studio have been fighting over which factions to start for this game.
If you're on the fence as to which faction to pick then you can view the statistics cards for the Goritsi and Naiser over on their website.
Will you be getting started in Wrath of Kings?

Those wolf miniatures looks almost like the old Rackham line of Wolfen for Confrontation.
Same sculptors or copycats?
I believe they did in fact have some of the same artists/sculptors from Rackham.
That would explain a lot, anywho I really like the look of those wolf creatures.
Edouard Guiton concepted both.
As far as I know Cool Mini or Not owns since a long time the sculpts from Rackham after their downfall…
I think it’s Cyanide who owns Confrontation, but they licensed it out to CMoN a few years back. I’m guessing that by now we’re probably not going to see CMoN do the promised re-boot of the game. For WoK, I’m pretty sure this was originally a set of concept art that Edouard did for a non-Rackham project a few years back. That project didn’t get go ahead and the studio approached CMoN who used it as the basis for WoK. It also seems as if Edouard isn’t involved in WoK beyond his old artwork being used for it, as it… Read more »
Awesome game, anybody wanting a great unit/skirmish game should really give it a try. Models are fantastic too.
lol been thinking about getting wrath of kings for a while now only for their starter set to have what is basically wolfen which I have 50+models .really hope their is an alternative set on the way at some point to just to tip me over the edge and jump into wok
Why not buy one of the other starter sets instead, think you can even download the rules for three.
Yep, the entire rulebook is available as a free PDF download from the WoK website.
Say this and really liked both factions of miniatures in this set.
finally its getting some much needed fire 🙂 fast and fun game, definatly recommended
I was thinking of getting into the game, and then they drop a start with the two factions I was looking at. I guess it was fate.
Those look really good.
I have both these factions from the KS and I can say they are some of the best minis I have ever assembled and painted. So easy and take paint like a dream!
I’ll agree with the comments above- fast-playing and fun rules, and fantastic miniatures!
Just a bit of a shame it seems to have run out of steam a little- like a lot of CMON games (eg Dark Age) it doesn’t seem to be all that well supported over here in the UK, which is a real shame as it deserves to be on more folk’s radars…
It’s the downside of launching a new game with a lot of product via KS. It takes a long time to fulfill so by the time it does the profile the campaign gave it has faded, and then there’s a big dump of new product onto the market rather than the slow build a minis game usually has. WoK has a lot of product available for a game that’s been on the market for less than a year, but because it all came out when the game was released it seems like things have slowed down. WoK now has both… Read more »
yes seems some guys from Rackham join the team, also a great new for me and a mate, i will jump into this game with the nassier and he will with the goritsi.
So…do they come with Stat cards like the Privateer Press stuff?
Yes
I cannot believe this had past me by!!!!! I used to be a huge fan of the Rackham stuff and looking at this I have just found something that Victoria and I can play yet another game on the list only this one just leapfrogged the rest to third place must have sort paint and play list.
Cannot say how absolutely pleased I am.
Does anyone know how many bottle tops this will cost please so I know what to save and please tell me this is not going to bloody kickstarter and actually coming out straight to market.
60$ according to the webstore .. so 2 playable groups with rules and a small campaign, probably an even nicer deal through wayland
It was already KS a couple of years back. The single faction starters are around £40, though you do get a lot of minis in them. Not sure how much this two player starter is.
I love that the 2player starter is the 2 armies I kept from the Kickstarter. Two armies with great fluff and, great personality and lots of flavor.
