The White Dragon Webstore Opens Packed With 15mm Sci-Fi Miniatures
January 25, 2016 by brennon
White Dragon Miniatures have now opened their webstore allowing you to pick up their 15mm Sci-Fi range. There are plenty of Infantry, Mechs and Vehicles to choose from which will build the core of a really serious fighting force all of which are incredibly well sculpted...
Infantry
First up we're taking a look at the Marine Tactical Unit which leads the way into battle under the watch of the big Mechs we'll look at later.
As you can see most of the range is well armed with a selection of assault rifles. In addition there are models with special weapons, in this case rocket launchers, which can be used to take down Mechs that might threaten them. As well as that we have the Talos Exo Suits.
The Talos Exo Suits represent heavily armed and armoured troops who are equipped with incredibly dangerous close range weapons designed to flush the enemy out of their hiding spaces and into the open.
Mechs
As well as 15mm Infantry the team at White Dragon Miniatures have also added their Mechs to the tabletop which include the superb looking Fiddler here. It comes with small arms for doing a little bit of dextrous work but the shoulder cannons deal most of the damage.
Another bipedal Mech in the series is the Proteus which carries around a rather large gun. This can either be a Chaingun, Railgun or Battle Cannon each of which sounds enjoyably chaotic.
All of these models conjure up incredibly evocative scenes of battle and I could see some impressive armies lining up with these at the forefront. If you're looking for a game to use them in then consider Gruntz which seems to be a 15mm Sci-Fi frontrunner.
Vehicles
As well as all the awesome Mechs we also have regular tracked vehicles. There are many variations on their webstore of the X4 Centurion which can have the standard cannon as you see below...
...or it can feature rockets and other larger turret mounted options. Head on over to their webstore to see more.
Will you be picking some of these models up?

These are superb! I’m not really up on 15mm sci-fi, are there any rules for these? Or if not, can anyone recommend an interesting set of rules that they could be used for?
…’tomorrows war’ would be my choice, unless you want really big games. Based on the Force-on-Force rules.
Thanks very much. I’ll be looking into Tomorrow’s War I think. Just had a look at the website and it sounds great.
It is a fantastic set of rules – just a sci-fi version of FoF. Need some 15mm aliens – try Khurasian miniatures.
I have put off getting it, but I think I have found my starting army! Only £6 for a squad.
Khurasian miniatures do look pretty good, and you can’t really argue with £6 for a squad, it is fairly compelling.
‘Gruntz’ is also popular, and I’ve also run across ‘Defiance – Vital Ground’, ‘Fireteam Andromeda’, ‘Victory Decision – Future Combat’, and ‘5150 – Star Army’ in my travels. I only bring them up because I think good rules are very subjective and it’s only fair to mention some of the others available out there.
Maybe even lazerburn
It’s good to know there’s a wide choice out there. I’ll certainly look into these as well, many thanks.

Thanks, interesting stuff indeed.
the models look good & just love the tank.
There is Gruntz:

And the soon to be released Horizon Wars:

Many thanks, I’ll be exploring these further.
Oh yes! It is time to buy a copy of Tomorrows War. They are totally amazing.
p.s., are these minis for a particular game?
Don’t think so.
@unclejimmy during the KS the guys published stat cards for use with Gruntz and squad sizing is perfect for that as well with the default 6 man teams that Gruntz uses.
Its what I’ll be using mine for.
Comment responses also suggested that WDM are not planning on their own ground combat ruleset but maybe expanding the range to produce an OPFOR, which would be very cool.
What is OPFOR?
opposition force… the bad/other guys…
That Proteus is gorgeous!
People I know play Firestorm Andromeda instead of Grunts now
Those are some stunning sci-fi models.
I have been following this artist for many years now. The world this guy has created is just fantastic! These mini’s came out looking great, but don’t even scratch the surface of some of the stuff this artist has put out. I’m extremely impressed with the quality of these and it gets me excited for future releases.
Gorgeous models
I love my Fiddler but wished it came with instruction, it would have helped me not make a few mistakes putting it together.
Overall I like what I see.
Here was me hoping they were 28mm. Whats up with the ‘face’ on the last one? It looks odd.
I dont understand with 15mm is not more popular? I barely see any game… and most are 2nd WW, not scifi.
This scale can bring so much more scale to a game. I can’t wait for Salute to visit all those great companies.
There are more than enough Gamers in the world playing in 15mm or smaller in any period you can think of
These look fantastic, got plenty of models to burn through at the moment but these will be added to the mighty, ‘list of gubbins wot I buy at Salute’! 😀
