While I’m not a LotR or WotR player I have picked up a fair few of the miniatures over the years mostly for the reasons given in the video. The sculpts, certainly the newer ones of the range, tend to be fantastic, being truescale is a huge plus for me as I’ve pretty much totally gone off heroic/weird proportioned human miniatures and also the LotR plastic kits tend to be a lot cheaper than most of GWs stuff. With the Harad models in particular there is huge scope to use them for games set outwith LotR, I could even see… Read more »
A big aim for us is to help people get into wargaming. If you’re a new player you will not have seen the entire back catalogue of miniatures a company has. So we cover old and new so our site will be a useful resource for everyone.
I’m enjoying them. Just got a huge Rohan army dirt cheap from ebay. The mini’s are great, and so much more appealing to me than the increasingly weirdly proportioned WFB ones.
Nice to see. This is a fantastic little set, and I think I have 36 of these figures to be painted yet… Definitely one of my favourite armies in the realm, much better for me than the uruks 😉
As for historical accuracy, their wicker armour would make them tough to field as any Arab type desert raiders of nomads. I mean, you could field them, but the pedantic historical gamers might give you a hard time 😉 It’s nice to see some Lord of the Rings reviews these days 🙂
You’re right the button counters would probably throw a fit. My personal interests cover way too many genres, from historical to fantasy to alternate history to time travel to dimentional travel so really I’m always up for using anything against anything as long as theres a good story there.
Stick a 4 in front of that 9 for my age bluntforce. I love the LotR game. It’s easy to learn, and not too shabby as far as appearance goes on the tabletop for getting other players interested. I’m a long standing hobby player, and find nothing major to dislike in the LotR system. I agree 150% with everything John said here. I have the equivalent of that box (one sprue from the BGiME magazine and one that came with my Mumakil!) and the sculpts are just beautiful. Even if you are a beginner painter, you can get some amazing… Read more »

What gives with all these reviews on old LOTR models? Why?

i really like all lord of the rings stuff these are very nice
cool minis i like the easterlings better =D
Have had a lot of fun painting these figures. To me, the best part of the Harad range is the Mumak….:-)
Rumour has it John is no longer part of BoW… anyone care to squash that rumour? 🙁
Yeah, I heard people saying that on youtube. I hope it’s not true.
Why would that be? HOW COULD HE LEAVE US D:
And btw these models are REALLY fun for trying out painting techniques on cloth. Over the set you get pretty much every type of clothing.
The red headed step child of the GW licenses. Please stop covering this worthless game that only 9 year olds play.
incorrect bluntforce, I’m 54 and play it
