great unboxing i have been waiting for this one for a while.
It is a decent bit of kit. My daughter bagged one from a charity shop for even more plastic for the pound! The buttresses are probably best left off as Darrell said. It is not clear in the instructions, but they are not identical iirc. To get them both to fit one has to have the “y” against the wall and the other has the “y” on the ground. Hope that makes sense. I put them both on the same wall and it could impede movement of units in movement trays, We will use the tower more in skirmish games… Read more »
oops! there not their DOH!
An excellent kit and glad to hear its still cheap…shows that GW is no1 for a reason. My club has one and its a great piece. I really like the GW terrain- but foamcard can be cheaper if a bit fiddly.
To be fair to designer i thought a lot of old buildings did have a buttress to hold it up and seige war often involved helping the wall collapse by attacking weak points
good review thanks Darrel
Well, now we know Darrell has a scatological fixation for historic outhouses 😉 I bought this kit randomly and, as with the majority of GW’s terrain, it is well detailed, fairly easy to put together, looks good and is reasonably priced – ? I’m sorry guys, but I’m afraid I put a buttress on mine 😉 I figured why not use as much of the kit as possible? It could have undergone a recent repair and won’t affect it in game, where it does serve it’s function for the scenario. The nice thing about GW’s scenery is that it’s relatively… Read more »
is it scarbo tower?
I can see many uses for tower like that.
There probably remake and release this in cheaper resin and sell it for 250. Still not brought a thing from GW since the debacle.
I like these reviews of the ‘standard’ kit for games. I would love to see a review of Witchfate Tor in comparison to this kit. I’d also like to see a video and paint guide of Witchfate Tor. I didn’t put the struts on mine either but that was because the struts would make it difficult to put away with my other bits. Personally i like the skulls, partly because skulls and spikes are GW’s style from way back and also because they give it the creepy continental European feel. It looks very French/Italian.
That wee beasty is a griffin 🙂
They’re fake struts. When the enemy comes to get them you dump rocks on thier heads. Ouch.
love gw buildings
I built mine with the struts. Never thought to leave it off. Going to cut it off now as as mentioned above it gets in the way when playing the game. Thanks for that Darrell. Good review. Great model.
