Unboxing The War World Scenics Pro Grass Applicator
September 23, 2014 by lloyd
We've got another static grass applicator to show off today and this one is the Pro Grass Applicator from War World Scenics!
Check out our unboxing as it looks like this is going to be another perfect tool for basing and covering scenery and terrain for your gaming table.
Great stuff – I don’t know that I have enough stuff to base in grass to warrant a device like this, but the techie-gadgety-tooly part of me REALLY enjoys these kind of reviews and demonstrations!
Agreed. I don’t know if I’d ever actually use it, but my son would love it. I have visions of his bed covered in grass. Which would be kind of funny until his mother got home 🙂
Now that is a useful piece of kit.
Any chance of a vid of you applying flock to Justin’s head with that?
We would but I am worried about all the negative ions rattling round inside an empty space 😉
That does seem to work realy well indeed. The only obstacle stopping me getting one is the £115 price tag though. I would expect something like this to cost £30 max in all honesty, as unless you are doing vast amounts of terrain, it wouldnt really makes its money back in use. Maybe a group purchase for a club?
the bug killing thing cost me less than £1 and if i had to spend more tim applying grass no problem £114 is half of my sallary so i cant afford it…
Looks great but £100 ?? Really??
Found on on their website for £99. Great for making my battle boards.
Ahh yeah thats the “standard” model. I was looking at the model with case.
NOOOO, it’s not a Fleshlight honey… it’s a static grass applicator !!! (@ ~ @)
Bzzzt!
” wait I’m just flocking it … don’t leaveee ” ↜ (@ x @) ↝
glad I’m not the only one who thought that
ha ha 😉 me too 😛
This is may turn me back from someone who never uses grass. Also if anyone is interested I could explain how this thing works.
I’m no expert but I suspect witchcraft.
yep … definitely required at least one sacrifice to get the grass looking that even 😛
BURN THE WITCH!!!
Ok, so you’ve got me watching some pretty weird things. 😎
I could see a lot of gaming clubs getting that so club member can in prove their miniatures would cut the price to a reasonable price to just 5 quid each if they have 20 members.
Very nice tool. I’ve seen these around for at least a decade and it seems even 10 years ago the price was…well…pricey. Yeah, I can’t justify spending this much on an ‘applicator’ when there are so many cool minis and books and terrain to spend that kind of money on. I did buy a “Static Grass Applicator” plastic bottle a few years back that works pretty well. You load your grass and cap, then shake vigorously(supposedly building a static charge, and squeeze the bottle with the cap pointed at the item you wish to apply the grass to. Like I… Read more »
It’s not exactly rocket science… here’s instructions how to build one:

If you don’t feel like buying a component ionizer, or can’t get one for some reason, here’s instructions how to build one from basic components:

Top stuff, thanks for the link! Looks like a fun build, definitely better than splurging £100 on the above imo!
The component ionizer can be a bit difficult to find, but as usual eBay comes to rescue. Stick “anion generator” into the search and you’ll find several Chinese sellers willing to send you one for roughly a fiver. They’re 12V items but probably run on a 9V battery just with less power, or you can hook it up to a DC power source or a spare car battery. In case all this talk about kilovolts scares you, this is really kid stuff at the end of the day. I’m not saying you shouldn’t be careful with it, but the gear… Read more »
It is useful for sure but the price and looks are a killer.
£100!?! Is that a typo!? It looks nice enough but wouldn’t dream of paying that much for it.
It looks like something that can be made at home with a bit of patience, which I may do on a dark wintery evening 🙂
Heres a nice linkmfor something pretty much identical….

Oh, forgot to add. BoW did a review of Flockbox a while back. 🙂
There was a whole lotta spankin’ goin’ on… 🙂
Question: how durable is that static grass if the minis are played with?
