Unboxing Victrix: Germanic Warriors
January 8, 2020 by avernos
Gerry has another huge bag of miniatures from Victrix. And this time it's a bunch of Germanic Warriors for your historical wargames!
Despite the odd assembly instructions, there's a great amount of variety in these sets. Though there is the danger of some breakage due to being transported in bags the miniatures themselves pristine and as close to flawless as you might get.
What games would you love to play with these Germanic Warriors?

Each time I see a Victrix kit…I want to start a new army. It’s not good. Or is it?
Good for Victrix for sure.
Maybe not good but you’re not the only one. You’re among friends here *plastic mountain gang sign*
Most predictable post of all time – Robert says Victrix mail looks shit. But I will say on the latest Norman renders they do seem to have improved their interpretation of mail – less honeycomb and more actual links.
What’s in the BAG! No box in sight! 😉
I didnt think Gerry was a fan of debagging
but teabagging?
I’d paint a swastika on their shields, drop them into my Hollow Earth Expedition RPG and let my heroic british PC’s kill them all for the evil nasty scum that they are.
Thanks a lot for the, er, unbagging, Gerry! These things filled out the ranks of my Warlord early Germans nicely. The transfers on the shields and the cloth they use in their clothes makes them look quite colorful. My grandson and I spent a great afternoon playing several games of Hail Caesar tribal wars. We had to use a few noble Goths for medium cavalry and some Gripping Beast dark age warriors for additional levies, but it was splendid. The little beasts (the Victrix Germans, not my grandsons) have managed to conquer my office however, so now I will have… Read more »
Why does someone keep rustling a bag in the background?
That’s Justin trying to get out from under the desk. Ignore it
nice figures. is it just me or does many of them look like Jonathan Frakes?
I’ve put together quite a few bags of Victrix Celts that share many components and body shapes with these Germans. I managed to largely ignore the assembly instructions and found there were plenty of arm options. As Gerry points out, the only ones that had really specific requirements were the musician bodies. Looks like these and the Celtic kits are highly interchangable which adds plenty of extra options.
Cool minis but the instructions are a right pain. I bought the Celtic chariot and the instructions for that were a mess too. I might pick some up off ebay cause I don’t need 60 of them but I do need barbarian types for a WoE warband.
Bags more figs for my saga. I like the mail even if all mail is out of scale. Bag is a nice inventive idea from the sixty’s, but someone forgot (or never remembered) to put instructions on the inside (other side) of the cardboard.
I can remember the old Airfix kits coming in a bag like that, you had to be REALLY careful in the Newsagents to pick one that hadn’t had bits broken of the sprue (propellers were usually broken). It’s not the “ideal” form of packaging (notice quite a few broken spears in Gerry video as well, good job you get loads anyway so it probably doesn’t become a major hinderance)
