Unboxing Star Wars: Legion – Clone Wars Set
November 13, 2019 by avernos
Hello there! Gerry has gotten his Wookiee mittens on the Clone Wars Set for Star Wars: Legion.
Begin your Star Wars: Legion Adventures at store.ontabletop.com
You may be asking where those droidekas are but do be patient and they will arrive. Contained in this set are Generals Grievous and Kenobi themselves along with a whole host of clone troopers and battle droids. There are also the range markers, movement sticks and two sets of cards for all of the Star Wars pew pew action.
Which of the two factions are you most excited to control?

There is only one true empire….
Holy Roman?
Mughal?
Correct
The number of parts on some of the models nearly put me off…
Seems like a fun set. I must admit regardless of what I think about the prequels I was more excited to see Obi-Wan and Grievous over Vader and Luke. The Clone Wars seems like a great way for them to amp up the ‘battle’ nature of the game with all the added vehicles and such from the movies and tv shows.
I’m really tempted by Legion but not sure which starter box to go with.
Looks a good well balanced starter game’s box.
I Love Star wars, I like Legion, I HATE roger-robot armies 🙁
I have two of the original Core boxes. But have been thinking about getting this one.
I have to agree with @brennon that I do want the two commander from this box.
I was a teenager when a New Hope came out…. Han fired first…
I know there’s a lot of criticism of the prequels which is justified…
However… if you watched the original trilogy for the first time now you’d have plenty of criticism of those movies… and I don’t just mean special effects… the script is more cheesy than a 3 cheese pizza.
As for Legion… No thanks… I’ll stick with Imperial Assault.
The originals were cheesy … but they weren’t quite as cheesy as some of the SF/Fantasy movies from that era.
Like Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers, Blakes Seven, Space 1999 (or Space 20 years ago as it’s now known), Star Trek – the rubber suit years…
Original Buck Rogers with Buster Crabbe along with Flash Gordon were much better than 70’s Buck Rogers
I do like a lot of the old 50’s scifi series and films as well
There was a Buck Rogers tv-show before the 70’s version ?
I must admit I only heard of the pre 70’s version of Buck Rogers as a result of the RPG that was drastically different from the tv-show.

I wonder what the reasoning was behind FFG’s decision to make the droids from hard plastic and the clones from PVC.
so do I, it may be numbers, or it may be a test. It’s easier to make non living things look realistic in hips. So Robots and vehicles are very easy, angles and hard edges are easy to replicate. Organic things in hips require more work sculpt wise to make it look good after production.
Not sure if we’ll ever find out.
Huh, I wasn’t aware of that limitation of HIPS. Guess you learn something new every day! Thinking more about this, I know the steel moulds for HIPS tend to be expensive, so maybe that could be a factor? I don’t know how much PVC moulds cost compared to HIPS.
pvc is much cheaper, but when you look at the things they have made in hips already they are smaller runs of minis. It’s certainly interesting mind you, I’m curious as to what way they will go
You’d think with the prequels being so dissapointing it’d be easy to pick between starters, but theres some nice stuff in there.
I ignore the prequel movies and chose either ‘Rebels’ or ‘Clone Wars’ (CGI) cartoon series.
Both were filled with interesting things that didn’t involve the Skywalker family.
Actually, its pobably because of Clone Wars that I like this box. It was sort of Band of Brothers Lite at times. It was awesome.
yep, especially the few episodes that focused on the Clone troopers themselves.
A galaxy filled with interesting bits and we only get to hear about one dysfunctional family.
Its not just Star Wars. Look at Star Trek. Dozens, maybe hundred of races defined in the shows and books, but we only ever see things from the point of view of a federation crew. Where’s our show folowing the rise of Khaless, or a Feringi smuggling ship, or even just humans who aren’t pro / part of the federation?
at least we had DS9 … which at least tried to minimize the role of the Federation.
But I do agree.
It’s why Discovery was the worst thing to happen to Trek since JJ Trek.
