Unboxing: Infinity Ariadna Scots Guards
August 18, 2015 by dignity
Justin and Killian return to the Ariadna of Infinity as they tackle The Scots Guards 6th Caledonian Infantry Regiment. These guys are packing lots of heat, makes sense as they're the Scottish sectorial army's fireteam.
The box contains four of these Caledonian Highlanders with an impressive armoury from a Marksman Rifle, to a Molotok, D.E.P. and a pair of Submachine Guns for some always cinematic looking dual wielding.
If you want to see how Ángel Giraldez brought these guys to life click HERE to read his step by step painting guide complete with tons of images showing you how his work progressed.
How would you utilise this fireteam?
It’s a DEP, the missile launcher is bigger.
While Ariadna are my favourite faction (hence the avatar), I’m not a huge fan of the Caledionian faction. I just don’t like the tartan and kilts.
I think the Scots Guard Models are great models, and would love to see them painted up without the tartan, but I think the tartan just ruins them. Sorry.
You might like my version, there is no tartan … mainly be cause the attempt at paining one seem to blow up on me, the joy of a mediocre painter
…to kick ass! Jamie bought a Tahaa starter yesterday – to counter I went Ariadna. Ariadna team ya’ bas.
I would use these guys carefully. Their ‘courage’ skill can keep them out of trouble even though they are fairly standard troops.
@rekky – no tartan or kilts?
Simple rule of thumb: if it looks like a LAW, it’s a DEP. If it’s a great big chunky thing (like the one in the first photo with the five guys in it), it’s a missile launcher.
I’ve never been a fan of DEPs, simply because of the one shot – but then, I underestimate the things and managed to get my Iguana popped by one…
Take a traktor mul and you can reload your DEPs, Panzerfausts etc.
Some of the best models in the range, I love the 2nd battalion
There is a blister with a Missile Launcher, as well.
@dignity for the unboxings where you go through the troop profile, it might be an idea to put it in the show notes as well, for ease of access
on my list to buy soon… after my ariadna us box 😀 that is comming soon 😀
Very cool minis. Got a set. Just practicing my tartan to try and make a good job of the lining. Step by step guide will no doubt help me greatly. This is a stupid question but would like help with an answer any way… There are occasional miniatures that don’t quite meet the army list, please advise with my examples below: 45th Highland Rifles ‘Galwegian’ Miniature – Christopher Lambard look alike with sword and pistol on the hip. Army List – only displays options for Rifle, Chain rifle, Boarding shotgun with smoke grenades and all having CCW. With no rifle… Read more »
In either of those two cases, you get to use the miniatures with the profile that you want. In the first case, the one with the great big claymore (CCW) is allowed to be used as any profile that happens to have a CCW i.e. any of them – it’s one of the great things about models that only have CCWs. In the second case, the dual SMG model can be used as any profile that has two SMGs, the DEP model can use any profile that has a DEP, regardless of whatever else the profile may have. Infinity isn’t… Read more »
To clarify… So where CCW is really the only weapon on display, just choose the cheapest cost appropriate and do not give them a ranged weapon just because the description on the army list says so?
If there is a shared description list for 2 models just allow them to use the weapons that are actually on the model?
@dugthefug1644 no what @chillreaper is saying is that the model can be used as any of the troops in the profile. So even though you can only see the CCW doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a rifle, he may have dropped it to swing his sword. Generally speaking in Infinity, you can use a model wielding a pistol or CCW or similar as any option in the troop profile as it is wielding a weapon common to all the options. Just because you can’t see his rifle doesn’t mean he doesn’t have one. Infinity isn’t 100% what you see is… Read more »
Understood.
Is any one making lnfinity weapons?
Would be nice to have a DEP on the base or hung from a sling for my 2 SMG scots guard.
Will accept other’s wisdom on the rules, but feels odd rolling my burst 3 from a mini swinging a sword.
This does mean that one battle he can wield a boarding shotgun and another a chain rifle I guess, which is very versatile.
does anybody know if there’s an English faction for infinity?
