Whether you want a Castigator, a Reckoner or the sinister Sanctifier for your games of Warmachine. This resin-plastic kit could be for you!
Wait, wait, wait. You like the Reckoner the least of them? I would consider that guy the best non-character jack in the army, and one of the top five non-characters in the game. in melee, its main weapon is only -1 power for +1 speed, ashen veil, and reach. It won’t even really lose the fist attack since it has assault with the gun; and that gun is very nice one with the choir backing it up. Flare is a very underestimated extra rule that can help those blasted annoying knight errants hit with their crossbows much more reliably. The… Read more »
The reckoner is amazing. It is often hard to justify taking any other jacks. Unfortunately, while I love the Castigator, it is pretty corner-case and there are almost always better options. I haven’t tried out the Sanctifier yet, but as I just bought 3 of these kits I will soon!
I want to give your post +1000 thumbs up, but I can’t… 🙁
It’s horses for courses. My Reckoner has never really cut it, while my Crusader(s) always seem to perform better or exactly as expected.
As someone who regularly fields epic Kreoss, I find the Reckoner too Focus hungry and too many points.
It’s true, playstyle and meta are big factors in what you like to play. Yeah, I definitely wouldn’t field him an eKreoss list, I rarely have more jacks than FoS.
I really love these models… Even though I preferred teh Khador ones aesthetically.

Although it’s probably good (for PP) to have multiple options out of one box, what about magnetizing them ? There’s only one pair of shoulder for 3 different sets of arms, and it seems very tricky to drill holes to put magnets in the arms (without mentionning these magnets would have to be very small, meaning not very strong. I know it’s plastic, but still…).
Anyway, good to see some warmachine videos again 🙂 I hope you’ll do the same for the other factions.
Cheers
I have magnetized some of the older kits and the normal gaming rare earth magnets hold up great. For this kit you would probably put the magnets where the arms meet the shoulders; and one at the melee weapon’s wrist. You’ll probably need to pick your favorite head to be permanent for this kit though. That neck guard thing looks like it will interfere with changing them out.
Magnetizing works great on all the resin/plastic warjacks kits… I can confirm this, first hand !
This kit is easy to magnetize until you hit the castigator’s pipes. They are tricky… but you are never going to run two anyway, so…
Thanks guys. I’m gonna try to magnetize a khador jack as soon as i get one.
bought this on day of release only started to assemble it today…and lo, BoW doth produce a vid. The reckoner is a seriously good jack
@trebormills – Indeed… seriously good. But then there is very little in Warmachine/Hordes that is “bad” it’s all a matter of degrees.
That’s why we talk about whether the model “makes the grade”. In a game full of powerhouses, you need to have serious advantages to make an impression.
For the same points as the Reckoner, I could get a Crusader and Kell Bailock… that’s more shooting and more melee power… it’s a tough call, but I know where my points go more often.
well locally id say 90% of PoM take the reckoner first, never seen the other two in play…but my Zealots might like a sanctifier. The crusader doesn’t see much love- i agree they can wreck face nicely,
KEE+Choir+vassal+reckoner (1 focus to boost to hit for flare) can be tasty way to kill something that must die at range. Also don’t forget vassal shoot, then assault shoot then smash with club trick.
As you say its all about the list in total- ekreoss+fos+infantry spam leaves no room for a reckoner
I reckon you are right when it comes to the reckoner. The sanctifier I think might be a bit of hit and miss. Great against certain cryx armies but maybe not so much against a standard power house Kador army??
i have both a reckoner + castigator and have sbbed a sanctifier in games and here are my humble views on thrm. IMO a castigator only really shines with both prime and epic feora. a sanctifier shines with any army that uses zealots or in a pinch errants. a reckoner shines with a warcaster that can give it a movement buff (the harbringers crusaders call). all 3.ae good jacks when they have a choir singing battle on them but unfortunately in most games it’ll be the castigator that will be left at the road side due to its lack of… Read more »
The reckoner put simply is an amazing Jack. For 8 points it is widely regarded to be 1 point undercosted. With assault the gun has 20″ threat range, add in the choir and you have a rat 7 pow 15 shot that can hit a caster 20″ away. Secondly its spd 5 with reach so when the crusader can hit you from 7″ away this can do it 10″ away, it’s just a massive difference in Warmachine. Both jacks (crusader and reckoner) get to mat 8 with choir, and the crusader has one more damage, but with flare, the reckoner… Read more »
For this box, you really don’t need to magnetize anything, as out of the 3, you will want the reckoner the most. The reckoner is just so great and versatile. Speed 5 and reach is fantastic, the rest is just gravy. It is really an amazing toolbox. The other 2 pale in comparison. The reckoner is often cited as the best Menoth warjack, and in the top 5 of the best warjacks for all factions. I guess this warjack is probably a bit undercosted. Anyway, this box is definitely a must-have for the Reckoner alone.
