Gerry takes us through another large bag of sprues from Victrix. This time it's 60 Late Saxon or Anglo Danes for your dark age army. This 28mm hard plastic miniatures set has a wide array of arm and head options for each body so that each figure is unique. You will need to do a bit of clean up on some of the models but the number of models you get is still impressive.
What game will you be running this force in?

Stop showing me all these beautiful Saxons miniatures my bank balance can’t take it!
I didn’t mean to, they send me them and then I open the parcels and *BLAM* toys!
visited battle recently…kind of want to have an anglo saxon and norman army now, and then this video pops up…which is making it hard to resist
unconnected.
we certainly aren’t following you
I hope it´s not too foolish, but I think I´d use these models as Rohan foot soldiers for Lord of the Rings. My second choice would be my old WHFB Bretonnian army that I dug out a few weeks ago to field it in Kings of War and that I want to add some foot soldiers to.
interesting to see how they scale up to be honest… Helms Deep be pretty cool with these chappies…
Do look very nice – always been intrigued by figures like Hereward the Wake, box of these and some Normans could be fun. Bit of skirmish warfare in the Fenns without having to fork out on two full armies…
I am thinking the Battles of Stamford Bridge and Hastings are in my future. Good thing I can drag at least one grandson away from the elves and dragons. Even the shield transfers are pretty great. @avernos Any idea who paints their presentation miniatures?
I shall try to find out, it’s familiar but I don’t know off the top of my head
Hoping for another book to grace my shelves if this is someone who writes about painting. While I admire you greatly for the great hobby tips and historical bent, my wallet detests you in the extreme, but Victrix has their hooks into my soul anyway, so no sense blaming you. Speaking of my severe case of ADD, the evil elves (the pack of grandsons) and their love of all things fantasy has derailed my Battle of Teutoberger Wald hopes temporarily, so I may as well add more Saxons to the grey pile of shame. Even my number one son plays… Read more »
a fab set of troops in chainmail.
You don’t need putty to fill the pits/gaps in the figures if your paint is thick enough…
Nice minis, I may need to revisit my Dark Age stuff.
