Gates of Antares Unboxing: Ghar High Commander
February 7, 2017 by dignity
Today we're unboxing the Ghar High Commander Karg from Beyond the Gates of Antares by Warlord Games.
Karg was one of a series of genetically improved clones created to form the next generation of top-ranking leaders and commanders. Karg is possessed of mental powers both considerable and unusual for his race; perhaps more unusual than the Supreme Commander’s geneticists intended.
For Karg is ambitious, hungry for power, willing to put his own interests over and above all Ghar-kind… over and above even the Supreme Commander.
How do you think this moves across the land?

Wasn’t Karg in He man?
The model is nice enough. It looks like Jabba the Hutt was a big influence on Kargs early life
So John is going blind AND french? I sense a Cæsar strip in the future 🙂
Recently aquired Gates of Antares Strike on Kara’Nine, to get to know the game. I’m still debating with myself, which faction to go for, but seeing this miniature, I think the debate is over. That figure is just awesome.
Thanks for a great presentation.
@aurorainbag – if you’re going Ghar then you may want to consider the other starter set. The larger one with 2 x squads of 3 Ghar walkers and some Concord guys. I can’t remember if the kara’nine set comes with a full rulebook or not, but the other set does. I think it’s a cool… Read more »
Ghar, I have the regular command crawler but haven’t picked up this one as of yet 🙂 The Ghar are still my Favorites.
Such a cool game…DJ KARG…..rocks the mic..!!!!
Getting my regular Command Crawler put together as we speak. I generally prefer to field my own characters with their own background, but I like the backstory of the subterfuge between Karg and Fartok, and this kind of politicking adds an extra level of depth to the otherwise relatively simple Ghar outlook.
A very characterful model. John, would you be willing to do a parts to painted on this model? I think it would be pretty cool to see this thing painted up.
Love this model. Really wasn’t sure about the Ghar when they first appeared but they’ve grown on me and Karg is awesome. I’d love to seen him painted up too.
I’m not especially keen on the official colour scheme as I think Karg himself gets a bit lost in all the colour.
There is something nice and grubby about the Ghar. that makes them a fun (2) faction(s). …. and it took me 5 days to find this ??? How did I miss it?? Stupid me!! Thanks again lads
