HOLD ON A FLIPPING MINUTE!
How?!
WHY?!
HOOOOW?!
Well I guess that is karma giving back to John for overpaying his starter box XD
Calm down…
Take it you’ve not had your notification, neither has the infamous Kevin, but he didnt pledge till nearly the end, and it looks like they are sending them out in pledge order, I was like John pledged early as I knwew waha I wanted.
The entire EU delivery is currently being held up at customs according to CGL who got their info from QML who got their info from GameQuest. That news came about two weeks after they said that confirmation mails for EU backers had been sent out. The lack of timely and accurate information as well as the amount of mistakes made in this kickstarter has been beyond frustrating. I fully expect the next excuse from CGL to be related to the ‘new’ regulations for importing goods that start on the 13th of December. Such a shame that a game of this… Read more »
After the shabby way CGL treated backers I have zero enthusiasm for this game now. My KS stuff is in a corner and will stay there until I decide if I can be bothered to paint it or sell it. The only good news is that the free 100mm Timber Wolf mini is selling for £60 on eBay so I can get some of my money back. They overcharged backers on postage, so OTT please stop giving this company any coverage. They treat gamers with contempt, and gamers should do the same back.
I understand the frustrations. I was in on day one with this kickstarter. Personally speaking it has dulled my enthusiasm, but I still want to play the game and collect the models.
The Timberwolf would be cool to have. I’ve seen them for less not on eBay. Might grab one.
@johnlyons, were you perhaps thinking of the Hunchback when you looked at the Starslayer?
Maybe the Shadowhawk.
I would like to see more unboxings.
I knew @sundancer would be distressed at seeing this unboxing… along with most of that thread…
I’m not distressed. I’m just flabbergasted about the sheer incompetence CGL has shown with this KS (and by the looks of it with the previous-non-BT one too)
“Die haben sich nicht mit Ruhm bekleckert” as we tend so say.
If google translate is correct… “they didn’t cover themselves with glory”.
I’d go with “bunch of useless tossers” as a rough approximation.
I’m like you Sundancer, not distressed, more a bit miffed, specially with regards Levaithans which was put on hold for this…., but saying thay on the whole it has been no worse experience than other kickstartes I’ve been in. though as this is 2nd BT one they could have been better.
I texted John that mine was on its way lst Friday , and he daid he as had his mailing confirmation text . John is one up on me as all I’ve done is poke head in box and check all contents match shipping order . So well done John for doing this preview.. I understand all the frustrations , but as long time player of BT, the fact that new product is avail even if via kickstarter is something, there have been many years over numeroud owners of IP when all you;ve heard is crikets chirping and the odd… Read more »
I’m jealous of you both 😛 I do agree though Bob – whilst I’ve only been seriously into Battletech in the last five years or so, I’ve been well aware of the ups & downs & dramas that the IP has gone through over the years and honestly the franchise is probably about as robust as it’s been. Hell, there was a point up until fairly recently where you could barely find *any* Battletech stuff with most UK game stores. Now if you can;t find it in your local FLGS then you can find *somewhere* that will sell you some… Read more »
Great and very Indepth and informative unboxing @johnlyons, another great “starter” box in the BattleTech range. Very excited to get hold of the vehicles when mine finally arrives, it looks like there’s some nice rules for using them in games of classic.
It’s such a shame this Kickstarter campaign has been full of nothing but controversy, the end results look great but I think its going to be leaving a lot of fans and backers with a poor impression of CGL.
Nice one 👍
It’s a very nice unboxing. I personally don’t think i will pick it up as the mechs inside leave me cold and the written content is all for the classic ruleset, but on the plus side they have been previewing a lot of nice mechs from newer eras too.
The Battletech’s are looking brilliant for the game
The Kickstarter has been hit or miss, but I’m very happy with the ‘Mechs they’ve put out. I got my stuff back at the start of July, though, so other than the absurd shipping costs and getting tanks in my ‘Mech salvage boxes, I don’t have the same reason to be upset as most. And I’ve just got my McCarron’s Armored Cavalry lance from Barnes & Noble, so now I’m able to paint up the Big Mac force I have planned.
Something that Gerry didnt mention when he did Iron Wind metals as an indy a couple of weeks back is that the international shipping charges are considerably less than Catlyst for those interested in the metals.
I think Ral Partha Europe does Iron Wind metals for the EU. But I’m not sure.
