Kings of War – Forces of the Abyss Unboxing
June 23, 2016 by dignity
It's been a while since we've unboxed a Kings of War piece from Mantic Games and I'm still making John look at all these pretty models eger to get him involved in another game with me.
Today it's the beautiful beauties they are, the Forces of the Abyss. This box is jam packed with models and with plenty of options you can customise your models to your own choosing. They even have a few imps flying around them and for those who want some battledrum, you can have that too!

I say John should play Kings of War. This army no idea. He should just play and see which he likes.
is it just me or are they looking a devil to paint?
they look like great figures.
the devil is in the details, and the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Oh good more puns
I do like a good pun
I love the imps on the spues too , Mantic’s old spues always used to have “pets” and it was part of the appeal… Then along came the Basilean Man-at-arms sprue which had no pets =(
and quite frankly are the worst regiment that mantic has ever produced. They need to re-do it ….. and add pets =)
That sprue sucked. If that were my only experience with Mantic minis, I would never buy from them again. Fortunately, I got some of their elves first. Great sculpts, plus a BONUS KITTY!
I got the Abyssal army from the Kickstarter. I love the sculpts, and have few complaints about the models. The two-handed wepaon options for the Lower Abyssals were lacking, but I modded the axes into some variants from the flails, scythes, and swords to give it variety. The succubi are awesome. The imps are just fun. All told, I love these models and especially the price. IF you build a scenic multibase instead of separate rank-and-file troops, remember that you can get away with as few as 50%+1 models for two-handed weapons that take up extra space, or you can… Read more »
I’ve begun work on my own Abyssal force, some of which can be seen on the What Are You Painting Now forum, and have to say I agree with lordtothe, they are nice sculpts. I love the two imps per sprue as well as all the choices and extra heads. My Bitz Box will benefit greatly. I haven’t played them yet but am having a ball building the force right now. I can not stress the benefits of unit basing but the biggest reason to make them is they are fun! John, you just glue and paint however you want,… Read more »
I think John should give the “Forces of the Abyss” a go, nothing lost if it`s not his cup of tea.
I do like the look of them, but i do have the beginning`s of a “Dwarf” force so i`ll be sticking with them.
