@sathos: lol Assault Squads are very useful & I would always equip mine with Flamers. You can give the Sgt. a Stormshield & Power Weapon/Thunder Hammer which makes him very useful. If I was to add any Character to this unit it would be a Chaplain or a Librarian. I always try (and often fail) to use them as harrying units or to intercept squads that are threatening my fire base. If you take them in 5 man squads then they’re best at ‘mopping up’ units that have been depleted. I wish the Assault squads could take 2 Power Weapons… Read more »
Stormshield on a assault sergeant would not only be useless but it would harm your own unit. Your sergeant is the only one in the unit who can have a power weapon or power fist, so you always want him to be the last guy in the unit to survive. If you give him the shield it tempts you to allocate otherwise unsavable wounds on him and that puts him into a risk. You dont want the unit to be useless just because you have failed one 3++ save. Well we’ll agree to disagree 🙂 How can a Stormshield be of any harm? 1) With a beefy Stormshield he looks cool & 2) I run him with a Stormshield & Powerfist, so he wouldn’t get the + 1 A anyway & I’m not silly enough to allocate lots of wounds to him just to save some guy with a flamer, like you say, you want him to be the last guy alive & with a Stormshield he has a better chance of surviving. as a BA player i get them as troops so what i do is my sargent goes with my sanguinary gaurd (heavy cavalry) with a 10 man assult squad with out their jump packs in a rhino becuase assult marines with jump packs get rhinos for 15 points with a 10 man assult squad (golf and hotel) on each flank then when my opponent least expects it boooom dante and a 4th 10 man assult squad come from behind and a vanguard squad perform heroic intervention at the front of their lines becuase i never scatter for some reason but… Read more »
also i dont like the thought of the combat sheild, five points for a 6+ invol i dont think its worth it id rather take the cannon foder and take melta bombs instead
I agree with Darrel here on the Tactics. I used the same tactics he explained towards the end, and they did wonders for me against Chaos Space Marines.
I agree with Darrel more pointy helmet guys or “beakers” as I like to call them one a box is just not enough… On another note I can’t believe we didn’t get a close up of those bases… what if they are square and and…
yep they’ve always been called ‘beaky’ helmets since like waaay back and they add a bit of variety. Quite like the new helmets such as on grey knights or the ones in the black templar upgrade sprue.
Wow, another daily tip for space marines……. I am beginning to think there isn’t another type of army. I love the spez mareeenz but can we see something for another army sometime plz. I <3 BoW but I hardly check anymore for vids since the majority of the time its for the marines (by marines i include blood angels, space wolves, etc). Lets see some ORK stuff! or maybe more DE! You got thumbed down so I put you back up since there ARE a lot of marine vids. Variety is nice even though I collect both space marines and necrons some vids on orks or eldar or something would be good.
You obviously missed the all Orks&Goblins week…
a themed week is different, we’re talking about daily tips, whats in the box etc: vids that come out regularly, here 🙂
Actualy it is Orcs&Goblins for Warhammer Fanstasy an entirely different game.
I appreciate the thumbing, I honestly wasn’t trying to get attention or rub people the wrong way. It was an honest observation that I simply wished to bring to light.
