Andy pulls out some dwarves from the Mercenaries faction of Warmachine and lets you know just what he thinks of these little guys and their unit attachment.
I see the glint in your eyes when you talk about those dwarves… I really like the look of them, but it seems there’s not too much variety in models for guys who want to have a Rhulic-only force, since it’s only a part of the mercenary faction range…
There isn’t a great deal of range for the Dwarves, only when you consider the other faction shave quite a lot. Currently the Searforge Commission have 4 units (including 1 character unit), 6 warjacks (4 heavy & 2 light), 2 warcasters and 2 Solos… 3 Solos if you count Lord Rockbottom Out next month are the Ogrun Shock Troopers, which are Searforge specific… and look briliant… I can’t wait to get my mitts on them! So the Searforge Commission might be small (in both range and stature) but they are perfectly formed and have all their bases covered by elite… Read more »
I agree, I think they’re a lot of fun, but they could use a touch of magic, eh?
I’m not familiar with the fluff of the Rhulic mercs, beyond the few paragraphs in the Forces of Mercenaries book. Is there a storyline reason why there are no magic rhulic units or solos? Or is it just that there are so few Rhulic releases, they haven’t gotten to the stuntie wizards yet?
As far as I recall, the Rhulic Warcasters are mages or more precisely Arcane Mechaniks (a sort of technological wizard), you need to have some magical ability in order to control Warjacks. There are a number of magical character types who would make good models, in particular the Claywives are the female (although not all are) Rhulic clerics who worship the Great Fathers (Dwarven Pantheon)… they would make some cool magical solos… there are also the Stone Lords, who are powerful Dwarven Paladins, who can trace their lineage directly to the Great Fathers (or they allegedly can). Those are the… Read more »
I like them because they’re powerful without being cheesy. Basically they walk (somewhat slowly) up the field, protected by thier high ARM value, dealing out punishment to anything that gets within reach.
What I like is the strength of their ranged ability. Players who are used to fantasy Dwarves being more melee focussed are often surprised when Gun Corp avoid melee in favour of setting up a kill zone of CRA fire.
Good to see, you still making this great videos for warmachine. Really fun and interesting to watch. So, all I need now: more money to get some more of this models. 🙂
I feel your pain, Andy. I put them together just using superglue. Over the course of three days. So frustrating, but possible if your willing to wait half a week to get them done, or if you don’t have access to puddy or stronger glue. I never filled out the unit though, got them back in MK1 and didn’t like them enough to go through that pain again, thinking about doing it for MK2 though.
Dear Andy, Please for the love all of things holy and sanctimonious, stop doing these videos. Your daily coverage, as well as The Eternal Warrior’s coverage this week of Warmachines makes me want to start a small force, but I can’t afford two 40k armies and a Warmachines force :(. P.S. Keep up that fantastic work, I should just stop watching them P.P.S. Would it be possible to do a video on the difference between Warmachine and Hordes. I’ve heard they’re basically the same game but different factions and fluff, and I’ve heard that they’re just different enough to warrant… Read more »
The Basher is the only war jack i would team up with them it runs can do its slams with out focus witch means you can boost the hit with the jack marshal ability!

BoW Andy
They do sound fun to play… And fun to paint. I might give these ones a try…
hey andy what do you say we have a go at painting them up at the next painting party?
We could do, I use a really easy paint scheme, They’re dark grey (I use a car autobody primer), flesh tone, khaki brown & chainmail.
We could probably get a few done in an evening. I’ll get the ones I have sprayed and we’ll see what the rest of the guys say.
BoW Andy
i think i’d like to have those shields in my bits box
good looking models.
You can get them separately…. here:

You should, they’re vastly imporved in MK2. So much so that my brother often uses them in his Supreme Kommander Irusk builds instead of Winterguard.
You can cast Fire for Effect on the Dwarf using a CRA, for boosted attack & damage rolls… nasty! 😀
BoW Andy
I play mostly mercenaries, or Circle, don’t have the book with me to see if its possible, but Snipe with pMagnus on them would be amusing.

I’ve planned a few videos where I’ll go through the different factions of Warmachine and (perhaps) Hordes.
However, the “How to Play Hordes” video is on track, we just need to unbox the Warpack Starter Sets first.
There’s just not enough hours in the day I’m afraid, so all things in due course, I promise. 😀
BoW Andy
I understand that, but no matter BoW’s release schedule, keep up the awesome work
Im really looking forward to see the Hordes unboxing as Im getting into my Everblight. Your a hard worker Andy, keep up the flow of vids, we love em.
