Nice models but not sure about gaming with them.
Void Blade is Rending and Entropic Strike not power. Regardless it doesn’t really justify 40 points for s5 t5 a assault marine that can get back up.
Haha he got it right in the second half.
I must say I’m as impressed with the new GW plastics as I am disappointed in Finecast…
BoW Romain
Makes you wonder why they don’t shift everything over to plastic, except the obvious, that they could not justify the high prices for single mini’s that are plastic.
It would be interesting to do a head to head Whats in the Box comparison of these with a finecast necron lord, just to see if the touted detail capture of finecast is in fact superior to plastic.
I was thinking that myself, I would have thought GW would make up a mold layout for making all Plastics make sense. I have an idea but GW will have to pay me for it…if they copy me Ill send em a C&D letter 😉
New plastics from GW are really good for detail and quality and of course all those extras for conversion etc
I LOVE the models. Your best bet for the praetorians is the rod of covenant. The guys are basically terminator killers both in and out of combat, which is fantastic. As far as the lychguard go, I’d model them in accordance with how you plan on gearing your lord/overlord. A more offensive overlord with a warscythe like mine has his lychguard equipped with warscythes as well. They’re high priority targets, especially with how I have them, so you’ll want to have the ability to port them around via monolith and/or night scythe.
Who makes those resin bases? Those don’t come with the kit…
I personally like Lychguard with the shields. While the warscythes are rather beastly, them already being S5 is nothing to scoff at. Since they’ll almost always be striking last I like the extra surviving power the dispersion shields give them. The only thing you’ll be striking before are things like carnifexes and terminators, whom I’d still like to have the invul against anyways. Although I usually stick them with an (over)lord with a warscythe to give them that extra hitting power and anti-tank capacity.
I love the models with any armament, my first buy for the new codex was lychguard with shields but I haven’t found them that amazing, a much better choice is wraiths than either lychguard or praetorians.
Use them as a 5 men Necronlord unit with warscythes and 1 orb in it and you have yourselves and everliving unit that gets back up on a 4+, its better than 5 lychguard if you ask me.
I’ll tell you right now, those dispersion shields are worth every point. I used Obyron to Ghostwalk my Lychguard in behind a squad of Space Marine Devastators. They threw everything they had at the guards and those shields bounced it all back right in their faces. I was as stunned as my opponent when that happened, but it was still awesome. Warscythes are better if you plan to dedicate the unit to armor hunting or slaying monstrous creatures. Otherwise swords and shields all the way.
If you think about it the Lychguard with the dispersion shields + Lord + Res Orb are the ultimate capture point contesters. You have a unit with basically a +4 twin link invon save… The shield gives a +4 invon save and the orb gives a +4 reanimation at the end of each phase….
Park a large group on the point and just let your opponent try and clear them off.
Now if the Necron Empire could just come up with a Ghost Ark that can pump out Lychguard…
:0)
I like both the lychguards and Praetorians, they both have all their uses
Lychguard are just great I think with them shields, they give the thunder hammer storm shields a run for their money, especially when there is 10 of them 🙂
And as for the Praetorians @capzielath and guys you got to remember that even though the void blades and particle caster aren’t infantry killers, have a bigger think about them, personally I smell tank hunters 🙂
Jump infantry – 3 attacks each (on the charge) – Rending – Entropic Strike
could you not use prateorians with vodiblade and particle caster in combination with zahndrek,, his adaptive tactics rule could be used to give them hit and run, they charge into a unit, say with abaddon or calgar, etc and remove his high armour save and then jump out of combat leaving him next turn to face your gun line with no armour save??
