Kings Of War Unboxing: Undead Army
November 11, 2016 by dignity
Today we're raising the dead and unboxing the coffins as we bring back the Undead Armies in Kings of War from Mantic Games.
The dead do not rest easy in Mantica, for there are those who would use them as macabre puppets to fulfill their own mortal ends. Skeletal foot troops and cavalry shamble onwards in a relentless tide, overwhelming any who stand in their path.
As Justin mentions, it's good to have rows of the same model with weaponry for easier rank and file however just make sure to dry base your models first to see how they fit alongside the other models.
Have you played with the Undead?

The undead are a great faction to play. Even although they are shambling, a couple of Necromancers or Liche Kings has them advancing pretty quickly. They also have several vampire units, (not shambling), and several flying options, so getting flanks and unexpected speediness can often blindside your opponent. Looking forward to seeing what you do with them John.
Very much a fan of Mantic’s undead – took the plunge into Age of Sigmar a little while back and ironically, it was this box combined with some of the new Start Collecting boxes that really got me going. Mix the ghouls and the zombies you suddenly get a lot of variety, very cool. That’s not to say I’ve no interest in Kings of War, cue the Samurai army I’m part way through hehe.
A large unit of zombies can provide an ideal blocker to tie up an opponents odd one or two units, they seem to take for ever to finish off, giving your mummies time to move in and once they engage they are rock solid.
I like KoW, I have a major soft spot for Mantic’s boxed armies. They may not be ultra pretty but they are great value and (aside from a certain Basilean Man-at-Arms sprue) have a certain charm. Keep going with these KoW unboxings I love them =)
they look like great well detailed figures.
I love the undead. Some much so that my group has called me Ed the dead for sometime :)(started with Warmaster going strong in KoW) The one unit that really needs to be added to the box set is werewolves. They are great for taking out enemy war machines and anything else that gets in their way.
I love Kings of War and have played both 1st and 2nd editions. My one problem has always been that I’m not much for the actual minis. But looking at this unboxing I actually really like the look of this set. Mantic make great games there is no doubt, if they can start producing great minis go to with that then there is no reason they can’t be a / the market leader.
That dear Justin are not tower shields.
Poor John, looks like a DUKW out of water 😉
