Kill Team Unboxing: Rogue Trader
September 8, 2018 by dignity
Pre-orders for Rogue Trader, the expansion to Games Workshop's boxed skirmish game Kill Team, have opened today so let's get a look at what you'll be playing with!
Rogue Traders are free agents who work to extend the Imperium’s borders, finding new worlds to colonise or bringing lost empires back into the fold.
Rogue Trader takes the Elucidian Starstriders and pits them against the disease-ridden Gellerpox Infected fighting for control of the starship New Dawn.
How will you paint your glitchlings?

Rogue Trader crew figures are nice, not feeling it for the nurgles though.
One of the things I was hoping to get from this unbox as a look at the expansion rules….
This had me wondering, are people here more interested in the miniatures in a big box like this?
GW themselves have had a number of photographs on their Community website, so a mini-centric unbox hasn’t helped my decision on whether to purchase or not.
My interest was in the close quarter fighting along with commander, strength specialist and strategist specialist rules for Kill Team, which are in the expansion booklet.
And it will be interesting to see how this set compares to the killzone terrain sets, because those also appear to include ‘special’ rules for the terrain. The few pages that were visible in this unboxing hinted at a few rules describing close quarters fights, which is logical as the layout suggest that there won’t be such a thing as ‘long range’ at all. Heck, I’m tempted to say that you can pretty much ignore ranges for weapons as you’re likely to be in-range the moment you can see each other. I suppose the rules within clarify this with perhaps… Read more »
yup – want, need adn must have this. no doubt. dammit…….
@dignity – the symbol on the board is not of the Inquisition but of the Adeptus Ministorum aka The Ecclesiarchy – a totally joyless pack of eejits that oversee the worship of the emperor, the imperial creed and so on. They use have the Sisters of Battle as one of their militant arms.
Wanted this when it was announced. Ordered it first thing this morning.
I’m no fan of nurgle, reason I didn’t buy Dark Imperium, but this was a must buy for the Rogue Traders and maps.
Should work well with Necromunda terrain too.
Doesn’t the Gellerpox break Kill Team rules though? Isn’t it 3-20 miniatures and Gellerpox is 23…
I just hope GW don’t do anything else I want this year…
This looks awesome. I haven’t bought Kill Team, but Rogue Trader goes on the ‘must have’ list. I am a little surprised by some of their choices for the Rogue Trader crew, but having a Grim Dark plastic surgeon I suppose is kind of funny and weird and very 40K. Surprised, but I think I like it. I also like the Rogue Trader wearing the niqab. Yet more evidence of GW trying to promote diversity in its range? 🙂 As well as being a reference to the kind of high society ladies in Rome and the early Islamic empire where… Read more »
Looks a good set.
The fact they included a dog just blows me away. I think i NEED this box.
Still haven’t finish building my Kill Team box but, i think i will get this one too! I see that with those connection points, you also need a powerful cutter like with the buildings in KT!
Not usually a Nurgle fan but, most of the guys with legs are cool, not all the small crap though but i can see this as a quick paint job with inks and drybrushing…
The Rogue Traders are awesome!
great figures this looks very like a rework of advanced space crusade love some of the besties they look like giant dog flies.
I hope the fish is a nod to the old Mordhiem sculpts were they would include a fish on a model or in the art work at random.
