The models a true beast and would definitely look brilliant on the board For actual in game effectiveness though Im not so sure it would be the best choice in smaller games, so Il probably hold off on a Khador force and give it a miss for now. Im hoping we’ll get to see more of the Hordes equivalents soon…
I have engine envy for my retribution army, that carriage is very good. It can’t boost attack rolls but with trample and cav charge it can really move(and still shoot after it’s 10″ move!) or use ride by attack to just be a nuisance with those craters and blast damage. The thing is made to fire on the move and has some amazing options to do it. 100% knockdown on melee and impact attacks is just silly as well, it makes it easy to set up other elements of the army for the kill and actually has the speed to… Read more »
When I first heard of the Battle Engines I didn’t really like the idea. I thought they wouldn’t really fit in the game. But now that I see them I have to confess that I do like em. When looking at the Gun Carriage I like that it doesn’t have so many parts. The only critique I have is that they could have made two different horses in order to make the model more dynamic. Concerning the the value in the game: As you said, its really hard to tell whether its good or not. What I don’t see is… Read more »
I agree with Andy in that it seems to be anti-infantry and with only 22 damage is about 10 less than the Khadoran heavy jacks. On an open field it may be OK with it’s huge base but on a board with several obstructions like buildings it may not be able to maneuver. Any of the large gun toting heavy warjacks should be able take it out with boosts in a turn or two.
I agree with andy as well he’s got the hook up on warmahordes…
However I view this model as a doorway piece to open up larger scale battles and board sizes. Which if I am even remotely correct ,would be fantastic and long overdue…
Interesting look at figure
negatives…its huge so will be pricey, its fiddly to put together, pp dont tend to do good horses imo and the ladder looks a bit warped
positives…moves game forward, its huge, its not looking uber powerful but it may be, horses not that bad
if i get khador i may consider one
The look of the gun carriage is fantastic. Tis good to see that the “steam” idea hasn’t gone all the way through every miniature or gigantic death dealing machine of dooooooooom! As for gameplay, I think the carriage will be great for a line breaker or something to create mass disruption in an opponents battleline. It may not be accurate, but it could come in handy for larger units such as Holy Zealots & Praetorians, as well as soft targets that are hard to hit. The blast damage at POW7 will be a definite plus to anyone with Khador, especially… Read more »
If that model right there don’t put a smile on your face especially if you play the game.
Then you my friend are far from redemption 🙂
Can’t wait til Privateer Press show the cryx faction some of the same love.
I assuming is to be used in bigger games where your warjacks can get bogged down by some of the heavy armor infantry. I see it being more used to break a defensive infantry line with it’s knock down and trample… without spending focus to do it… And the rest of your force follows up to deal the killing blows.
Not really a game changer, but widens the rock-paper-scissor dynamic to allow for variety I guess. Big enough to knock down some of those nasty jacks that plague you? taking them out of the fight for a turn or 2…
Looks like a nightmare kit to build and transport, was hoping these big war engine type things would get me into Warmachine but unitil they catch up with GW for ease of building of large kits ill wait.
I’ve got mine put together and painted. fantastic looking model, though perhaps not beginner friendly, so I wouldn’t get the 12 year old at the LFGS to pick one up. In game, the Vlad’s and Sorscha’s will love this think, and rumor is that Harkevich will have fortune… rerolls and extra dice? yes please!
Ok Andy i would just like to point out you put it on the base wrong…
I for one love the model and seeing as it, along with all the other Battle Engines, seem to be built for bigger games such as say an Unbound game that is loaded with units and solos that this fills the niche of a unit annihilator that Khador needed filled in larger games.
I love it. Great model, and I think 9 points is a bargain for what you get.
I tend not to play games larger than 35 points, so I probably won’t pick one up, but in a 50+ point game, I can totally see taking one of these (or two!) as a way to break up massed infantry.
Two 4″ pie plates, impact attacks and trample? Pretty great tools for tackling infantry.
In an Unbound game they’re practically a must.
Beautiful model! Looks much easier to build than I imagined.
Off topic: The video is out of focus for the entire time. The close-cam is fine, but the main camera is focused on the shelves in the back, while he is blurred.
I play Khador and I am not tempted to get this model yet. It looks amazing but for game effectiveness it’s not worth it as of right now. I would definitely pick this over a destroyer any day though. Most tournaments are 35pts, so usually thats only space for 1 jack for decent competitive list. For 50pt games it might be a different story.
Anything that can freeze (stationary) the targets for you Gun Carriage is a must. Scorcha, Koldun Lords, Greylord squads, etc. I love this thing and in my last game against Cygnar it killed 15 warrior models, and caused a bunch of damage on his jacks. Weapon Platform is a great rule, and using it instead of a jack frees up focus which is good for are casters.
i play khador and i have got two already . working on getting them together and painted . its a cool model and a good unit . would love to see andy to use it in a game with v . that would be grate !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I find it’s trample ability, more or less a waste. ..as you’ll just to be within 4″ of a single line infantry to be able to trample them, as with that massive base, it’s going to be hard to get all the way over.. and you have to get all the way over for the trample. A canny opponent will spread out a few guys to negate your ability to trample, or if not reaching you with their own charge, simply hold back a bit.
Video’s are back yay!!! I’m not looking forward to facing these though. Personally I like the model but I can understand why others don’t.

I got one of these sitting on my bookshelf ^^

Okay…that thing is even hotter than I thought it would be! Very nice.
i actually like this as a model would look very nice in my cabinet

Transporting the thing is a whole other problem….
