Unboxing: Gates of Antares – Isorian Senatex Phase Squad
June 28, 2016 by dignity
Hi everyone, with the Battle of Xilos underway we wanted to take a look at the Gates of Antares models from Warlord Games.
Today we're opening the Isorian Senatex Phase Squad and boy are these guys a force to be reckoned with, I will say that the little Drone is a little difficult to connect to the base but with some steady aim you'll get there!
How would you paint the Squad? Would you stick to the box art like John?

I love the Isorian drones, they look like lovecraftian Flying Polyp creatures.
I’m definitely interested in getting into the game and really want to, but I’m going to wait for some of the alien factions to emerge first. I want some cool floaty aliens.
How very abstract 😉
I like the sculpts generally but don’t fancy all the gem thingies.
And the fact they are metals.
I really want to like Gates of Antares but I the figures still don’t strike any chord of mine strangely enough.
I’ll throw money at Warlord again when Konflikt 47 is out.
Thanks for the unboxing, it will be very useful for one of my adversaries ^_^ I love really much the background of Gates of Antares, that’s SF! It remember me like Asimov books. Anyway, even I don’t play Isorian, their story is really good too. I play a great Concord force (more than 3200 points right now) and Ghar too (almost 3000 points). The rule system is strongly like Bolt Action, but (as Rick Priestley said) a bit more complex ^_^ Maybe one of my favorite game ever. It remembered me the good old days of the Rogue Trader with… Read more »
Pretty sure I’d choose the Isorians in this game. Yet I’m a bit at odds with their bulky torsi and skinny short-ish legs. They are very interesting, could be a bit cooler though. Regarding colours and style I don’t know which of these two directions I’d pick: A) a very clean, cold and non-organic feel (for a nice contrast to the inmplications of the sculpts) or B) artificial chemo-bio looks. Either way mainly rather dark. In the first instance with some dim as well as hard light in red shades for menacing effects (possibly like reversed highlighting). For the second… Read more »
I got a chance to demo this game at Adepticon last year and it was fun. I would like to try out a real all out game beyond a demo.
Anyone got the link to the player finder? I can’t find it in my emails and I’m sure there was one sent out a couple of weeks ago. Thanks in advance if anyone can help a brother out.

Antares is a loads of fun. Rules are different enough from Bolt Action not to feel the same game in space, but it retains all that make BA games fun and exciting (i.e. activation and pinning mechanic).
@dignity maybe you should go for the Freeborn, you could totally do Hansa Nairoba look in real life. Maybe Boromites for @johnlyons? They certainly have the biggest thing coming, not sure if there will be stompy robots in Antares. I know @warzan is into the AI stuff, but based on play style he’s definitely a Ghar player.
