these models are brilliant, if using them for kings of war you hget the cool dog/rat, or if you use it for other systems you will be able to get 21 models if you use the ground burster, and maybe another 1 or 2 if you model a few with spare arms/heads to be ground bursters.
Those are exelent looking models.
I agree, these models are truly excellent… They’re simply the best plastic skeletons I’ve seen, and they’re also the most affordable !
This may sound odd, but I really like the shields even though they don’t have the same detail as GW ones. They match for a start – to have a coherent look for your army with GW skeleton shields you have to raid bitz sites to give them all the same shield. The fact that they’re so plain and smooth also means you can use all the spare skulls from your SM transfer sheets for a quick and easy army symbol.
I do love Mantics skeletons and they are what I am using for my VC skels because they also help fit the theme of my army a bit better with the armour they are wearing.
I’ll just slightly correct Darrell and say you actually get two different sprues in the set. One is a standard troop sprue with ten skeletons, while the other is a command sprue with parts to create a Champion, Standard Bearer and Musician as well as another seven skelly bobs.*
Nice to see another fan of 80’s fantasy films. [goes to dig out the Jason & The Argonauts dvd]
*caveat: unless they’ve changed the contents recently and just include 2 command sprues now – not had to buy recently as I’ve 2000 points of Mantic Undead
Cheers

Well, I now know where I’m getting my tomb kings units, these are twice as detailed and they don’t look as cartoony. I also love that they cost half as much as GW skeletons and I can spend the same amount of money and get 30 of these guys!
My only question is: are the bases of these models the same size as the GW ones? Cuz in that case I’m getting a box!
@elbisrever – they come with 20mm square bases that you fit the inserts they’re moulded with into so they rank up and work perfectly in WHFB.
Thanks a lot for the reply!, I’m gonna get me a box! 🙂
